I just got back. I could only stay just under and hour. Very tough time, but beautiful speeches. RIP Jim.

Yes just got back myself and I don't think they could have done it any better. Just then, at Fed square the 3 cheers went up as Jimmys number 37 and his coffin were brought outside. It was an amazing experience,

i thought it was great how they included plenty of personal touches with speeches from his brother Brian, Gaddy Lyon and even Sam got up and spoke as Jimmy asked her to.

Actually after a solemn, peaceful hour standing at Fed Square watching the big screen, the biggest cheer from Fed Square at the end came when Sam waved and blew kisses thanking everyone before hopping into her car.

It was a great send off for Jimmy.

Yes a very emotional experience. It was a beautiful service. So much has been said and written but I loved how elemental it was - Brian talking of his love for his brother and the joy and happiness the boys got from simply playing together and sharing adventure. Garry there to add a light touch and make some fun of his old mate.

I was certainly moved by the turn out of Melbourne faithful. It makes me very proud to say we are a real club full of heart, soul and love for our common man. Onya Jimma. We love you.

Which number should i place on the new Reach Jumper 37 or 11....??

After seeing the number 37 today does that number represent Jim or 11??

Mixed emotions...

Just saw some photos and saw Cameron Bruce wearing a Melbourne tie (well at least red and blue). Great to see. I was debating whether this should go in this post as I am scared of the Bruce bashing. Mods, if you want to move it, I completely understand.

Cam would have known Jim...friendships last forever.

I walked past Cameron on the way back to work, it was definitely a Melbourne tie. He was with Al Clarkson who was wearing his Hawthorn one. Good on you Brucey!!

Does anybody know of a replay? I recorded it on Austar and the thing cut out at the exact end time, so I missed Jim leaving the church. :(

Got back a little while ago now - took my 2 and a half year old boy, who loved seeing all the red and the blue. Just sat down to write this after having a whisky as Jim recommended!

It was a beautiful service - a real celebration, I felt. There was also a great feeling of camaraderie amongst the Demons faithful.

In his life, Jimmy gave so much to our football club and, in his passing, he may have galvanised the club even more than maybe he knew. We'll see - roll on Saturday.

Cam's a Demon at heart. He will be back at the club when he finishes at Hawkland. You don't play 220 plus games without getting red and blue blood. What a beautiful service for Jimmy. I watched it live on Ch 9 from Perth and it was so moving to see so many Demon supporters in club colours farewelling their hero. Also other non Demons there too. Would have liked a closer view of our Demons forming a guard of honour in their new blazers. One guy though and easily recognisable was Matthew Bate. Gee, his hair looked redder than ever! Farewell Jimmy, you will be always be remembered in so many different ways.

Nice touch Brucey.

Thanks also Tricky, for relaying this info to those of us outside Victoria.

Brian's eulogy was the most touching part, for mine.

RIP Jim.

Just saw the photo of Bruce. Class.

Watched on the web from Sydney, tears streaming down the face.

Jim lives on in all of those who spoke.

Was great to see the Wizard there as well - coming all the way from WA to farewell his old mate.

Farewell Jim...we'll miss you!

Agree, a nice touch.

I noticed James McDonald did not. (I'm not judging him, just thought it was interesting)

I saw Nathan Carroll there too. A bit sad, on his own, not with his old mates, but obviously still there to pay his respects. He was on 'our' side of the road - with the fans and not the invitees.

It was a good moving service, although I thought it was a shame that the hearse didn't do a lap of honour around the G afterwards!

Im both Heartbroken and proud today. Its amazing how in hard times being part of a club can help pull you through. Cant underestimate how important the MFC is to myself and many people.

"Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die".

I will always keep this line in my mind when i think of Jim.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
