Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Liam Jurrah interview on Eddie Maguire 11/3/12

Re-read the bit that you bolded before you carry on like an idiot.

I read it over several times before I decided to carry on like an idiot.

"I don’t believe that BHM would use Jurrah just to help McGuire’s rating on his new show."

Maybe it is just your clumsy wording, but I would have thought the key word was "just" - in which case, it could be asked for what other reasons were you inferring he was "using" Jurrah? I suggest you read the rest of that paragraph where you suggest Betheras: "made the point of almost blaming personal changes at Melbourne for Jurrahs actions combined with BHM organizing a private meeting with the Collingwood President", then you might understand why I construed your post the way I did.

And as dandeeman is concerned about the revelation of the real name of a Demonland poster (which most people on here are well aware of anyway), you might want to edit the section where you quote me... I have removed it from my post.

Read it as I wrote it, and stop trying to cause trouble. I don't think that BHM was using Jurrah to help McGuire with his ratings. I believe that all four are working to get Jurrah to Collingwood next year.

With the greatest deal of respect to Rudeboy here, I smell something fishy. I did not like Eddie's tone about reminding us how the Pies brought Liam to the AFL and 'let's not forget he was at Collingwood before Melbourne'. It seems like payback for all that has been going on between the two clubs for the last 8 months (you may even look further). I don't know why Eddie feels the need to have to mention Colllingwood and I got the feeling he was implying that Liam has no support at the MFC. Would not even surprise me if he was whispering "next year we will get you to the Pies, we are the biggest footy club, just like the Magpies back home" ;) **wink wink**

Shoot me down if you like ... but the way this whole thing was set up by 3 Collingwood people is very very very suss!

Rude Boy needs to get on here and defend himself.

I honestly, cannot see the game here.

If good publicity is what they are searching for they better grow up and realise that the PR play here is to shut up, get a effing good lawyer and win this as well as Milne and Montagna won their flirtations with the law.

Absolute brainmelt to go on that show.

Not trying to cause trouble at all, simply making an observation which you seem to have given more credence with your comment that you believe all four of them are working to get LJ to the Pies... and I do notice you removed the word "just" in quoting yourself.

The sad thing is, that this latest fiasco has put more heat and more attention on the whole Jurrah story, which is the last thing someone in Jurrah's fragile position needs.

Whoever is to blame, should really think about the implications to Liam here. It's just completely unnecessary, and another day this story makes the front page, where the best thing for the club, and for him, is to be left alone to deal with this in a private manner.

Eddie McGuire, you are a [censored]!

I would like to hear the official position from the club before coming to any conclusions, I am concerned at the club's absence in all of this.

It will go on like this for weeks.

The whole thing is a pain in the rear.

An unneeded distraction to everyone at the MFC

I’m not as concerned as some on here about the way this was done. I’d have preferred the club had sanctioned the interview and that someone from MFC was there, maybe rather than Betheras.

I don’t subscribe to Thomo’s conspiracy theory but I think that BHM rightly figured that at some point in the near future, LJ would have to front the cameras. By having Maguire (with whom BHM has a relationship) do the interview, he was able to control what was asked & protect LJ.

What we got was something of a fluff piece on subscriber TV. Rather that than putting LJ through the stress of a press conference with 30 cameras & the dross that masquerades as football journalists competing to ask the stupidest questions. All of which would have been unscripted. And because this is bigger than just a footy story, the ambulance chasers would have been there as well, possibly asking the sort of questions that needafullback has raised concerns about LJ being exposed to.

Now LJ & the club are in a position to say that he has done all the media he is doing and is just looking to complete his rehab & reclaim his place in the Melbourne team.

And from listening to SEN and reading on here, the focus has shifted to Eddie. For once I don’t mind that

While Eddie at times shits me as much as anyone else, it’s undeniable that he has been a sensational club president. He (sadly) dragged those pricks from the bones of their arse to a powerhouse. And when this story broke he was effusive i his praise of what MFC had done for LJ since we drafted him.

Well said OD.

Quite simply, I wish the best outcome for Liam and trust the club and other parties are representing him to the best of their capabilities.

But we do not need this advertised all over TV on top of the multitude of newspaper reports.

I'm not saying the club is greater than the individual but the last thing we want is for LJ's situation to the number 1 news story at the MFC.

Boy didn't LJ look so comfortable doing an interview.. Didn't seem that he wanted to say anything, didn't look like he wanted to be there. Body language said "leave me alone". This was a huge set up. What was he going to say. "I don't want to play footy anymore" Terrible interview which said nothing. Eddie would have been better just to interview his gran or mum, who said nothing as well.

I hate to say it but Eddie is a brilliant in front of the camera .......... and he handled the interview impeccably/

But at the end of the day he is Collingwood - and he has put to air a segment which shows LIam in a Collingwood lounge room surrounded by Collingwood people. Bailey JImmy and Flack have all gone - and Flash is out of the leadership group.. How much damage would it do to our efforts to be seen as an powerful influential club if LIam follows BHM and Rupe - and Eddie - accross to Collingwood when his current contract expires. Neeld needs to get LIam and his family over for dinner quick smart.

Eddie's conflict of interest is shameful - not just to him ... but to Foxtel - and the AFL which tolerates it. The man leading the AFL's broadcast media drive into Western Sydney is the same man who a few months ago threatened to destroy GWS if they approached his players. How can that be? Foxtel should insist that he resign from the COllingwood Board.

The man is utterly two-faced - and we should make it perfectly clear to LIam's manager - and to his " brother" (BHM) - that LIam is not to go near him again!

Just noticed Martin Blake tweeting:

Tweet 1: "Jurrah trained indoors this morning at Melb FC. Brad green said he had a smile and wants to use footy to do talking but..."

Tweet 2:"Jurrah wont play for at least 7 or 8 weeks according to Brad Green needs to complete a preseason"

Given that timeline, I suspect Liam's first game back in the AFL will be a week or two after his court case (17th May I think)?

Seems little point in pushing him into the team prior to then give his injuries and the distraction his hearing will have...

I suspect he will not play in 2012 if ever for the MFC.

The Pies are circling.

When is his contract up?

I'm certain Mackinnon and Betheras were thinking in the best interests of Liam here but this isn't small fare anymore.

Liam is deep into an event that transcends the country and will affect his life - the best advice he is going to get is not from an author and an ex-footy player who happen to be friends of his.

Your friends can be your enemies when they try to do "what they think is right."

Those two need to get out of the way and let Schwab do what he is paid to do, he has an army of PR blokes as friends willing to help Liam with his perception issues in a more elegant way, and he can plead his case to the public once the case is out of the way.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
