As I read it - NOT guilty of 3 strikes, and NOT one of ours, but an affiliate.

So the three strike rumour could well be another.

Wade Lees is not guilty of anything at the moment other than perhaps being careless in not checking out the product he was buying.

He doesn't deserve to be tarred with the same brush as drug cheats although his attempt to better himself is going to be costly. He's already had to engage lawyers and would be under a fair bit of emotional stress.

Whether or not he is blameless, the VFL or AFL Victoria needs to step up its processes in terms of educating players on drug codes and the like. In the meantime, it would seem unfair on the basis of what I've read if he received a major sanction in a situation where the purchase was quite open and he didn't even receive the banned substance.

It wasn't as if the purchase was from an underground operator or his mother as claimed by Shane Warne who was given a 12 month sanction back in 2003. In that case Warne actually tested positive to a banned substance which he claimed he taken to help with weight problems.

In this case, the goods weren't received or used and, in the circumstances, it would seem unfair to me that he should be dealt with harshly if indeed, he's found guilty of any breach of the rules of the sport.

There have been so many publicised incidents of athletes, footballers and sportsmen contravening drug laws inadvertently and naively. Unfortunately it does not wash. Lees has absolutely stupid and his only protection is the goods weren't delivered. Having consumed the product he would have been snared. He should get a lighter penalty. And FWIW, Warne should have gone for longer for his episode. He was very very lucky to have received one year for what he did.

100% right but he was Shane Warne and a major drawcard for the sport at the time.

I was a vfl club doctor for 3 years. Every year Asada and the vfl required me to give a detailed drug education talk during the Pre season. A detailed ppt presentation was provided, produced by the afl and Asada. He was careless, it may not have been intentional, but he is still guilty according to the wada anti doping code... Which the afl does not follow in its entirety. Will be interesting to see what happens.

With all respect there is a big difference in the education and understanding of the Asda drug policy between a semi-professional VFL player compare to an Australian Cricketer. Poor bloke fancy getting this story all over the Herald Sun, he wouldn't know this was banned and I dare to say of all the chemicals in the drug it would have contained 1 that was banned. Also this isn't something you just buy off the internet this is something that someone would have recommended. We have AFL players on 1-2 strikes that do know better that we can't release there names and this bloke trys to get a fat burner and he is all over the papers.

Bring on the season so the Journos can actually report on what they should.

A doctor was appointed quite a while ago as well as his assistant. I know them well. They will do a good job. They don't have the experience yet of Drs. Daff and Freid, but they are young and enthusiastic. One of them is from Sydney and will likely only be here for the one year. The head doctor was North Melbourne's doctor last year.

Sportsman should not live in a vacuum. Its no surprise the Hun got involved. They're in fine form after the scintallating Majak Daw scoop. When you say "someone" recommended wouldnt you want to be sure they are medically qualified to give that recommendation. I hear there are lots of recommendations on tablets from "someone" apparently at night clubs. He does not have to be an Australian cricketer (not that it is a fair measure) to be careful.

The issue is more about the Hun's explosive journalism. And its appalling.

Warneys' mum didn't know her pudgy little son was a [snip].

Until they drug test cops, the entire legal profession (including judges), and politicians, doctors , CEOS, teachers and government officials they should lay off non-AFL players.

Half the media are coke heads as with many Barristers - what a joke.

Have a look at Gary Abletts' performances- he was higher than God and they never did a thing.

Blue collar workers cop drug testing in many professions and the rich import the sh#t!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
