Just reading today's Hun. This could be an enormous get for the club. If the AFL push this one, with the MFC as the team. It could be worth a fortune. I have no doubt games will be played at international venues in the future. So why not get in first to secure the Primo position. Well done Schwabby keep up the hard work. Stynesy said the day we resigned with the MCC that this club could be as big as Man United. This is how you do it, or at least try.

Could be bigger than Ben Hur.. humungous potential in all of this.

Could actually provide the catalyst for long term survivability in so much as a gateway to large sponsorships, exposure and memberships..

Hawthorn can have Tassie... we'll take a slice of Sino-Apple pie thanks... or is that some custard dumplings !! :)

Its all to do with the scale of things.. In an Aussie context China goes off the map in terms of numbers. You only need a sniff of an interest and that translates into a very meaningful result.

Makes more sense playing a game there than the NT personally...well for 4 pts at least ( and the very large number the AFL would pay to have us do so !! )

First in best dressed.....lets make that US !!!!

Gong hee fat chow ( or whatever..) lol

you'll have to convince the chinese first that the Dees stands for Dragons otherwise bad feng shui

not sure what Checker would think of the Melbourne Dragons?

still if we just relocate it won't really matter

We already did this once yeah??

They probably believe it already...

In which case, another showcase should be considered late in 2012, the year of the Dragon.

We went there last time as Melbourne Demons....we will always be the Melbourne Demons.. its not the issue some think.

They may choose to have less emphasis on the Demon as opposed to MELBOURNE. Its not that hard.

I would think it was used simply as being symbolic of China as well as being representative of the team; to quote wikipedia: "The dragon is also a symbol of power, strength, and good luck. With this, the Emperor of China usually uses the dragon as a symbol of his imperial power."

Considering that only 15k-20k fans think it is a good idea to turn up to PA, GC, WCE, Freo, Adel, and, presumably, GWS games against us at the G - I am all for taking some of these games away to those who will go - whether it is the people of Casey or the people of Shanghai.

I'm only interested in this if we get rid of the Darwin game.

1 home game outside Vic is enough.

Sorry cannot agree, Darwin , China, London, LA I don't care if we only play 10 games in Victoria and 5 at the MCG as long as we win the flag at the MCG I will be very happy.

Bring on a powerful and prosperous MFC.

That is my main objective.

They can even be the the Dragons if that is what it takes.

I am well and truely over being the brunt of the sympathy vote.

I want success and hate

Carn the Dees

Guest Jackie

The Chinese are a superstitious lot and might not fancy following a team associated with devils or demons per se. Maybe something like being called the demon dragons could be an acceptable compromise.

Ok, just seemed to make sense, as the demon is a negative representation in there culture to replace it with a dragon. I am not suggesting we should be changing the demon but can understand thereason if we did in china.

I don't really care but that may upset many long standing traditionalists changing the name to dragons.

Jackie I have been around for a long time now.

The tradition I want desperately to change is the "losing" one.

Almost everything else comes second.

The term demon is alot more than just a name or mascot to MFC, it was a lead in to our most successful era, where the MFC was ruthless ect, the demon is a mentality we need to embrace.

We won't be changing our name. I doubt the Big Jimma would approve of that one.

I am not suggesting we do wyl but if it meant a very large sponser with a 5 year commitment from China

and a change to the Dragons was what it took then so be it.

The problem is Jt we are a long way from the 1950's half a century in fact.

Todays 20 year olds think the "demons" is a symbol of a poor team who play bruise free football.

Other than tradition what did it achieve in 2011?

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.
