Myself, my 4 year old who is still on board and even my 6 year old who now follows the filth all get memberships yearly. I think the 6 year old will come back on board once the tie turns

Hi PSD My daughter years ago did what your 6 year old is doing ( except it was the Bombers ).

In spite of all my work she never came back.

A number of Premierships later and now top of the table makes her decision like a wise one.

Unfortunately I do not think you are going to win this one.

The Pies are going to be succesful for the next 5 years and the Dees the reverse

By 11 he will be locked in PSD.

But good luck with the way ahead

35k passed.

(Shaking head at Old Dee for once saying we won't get to 30k)

This club really needs to get its act together. I have been following the membership tally with some interest on the main counter on the home page and it's still on 34,961 as it has been for a while. Why have it there if they don't update it properly. They obviously think it is important enough to display it on a central spot on the home page. Poor form.

I'd like to think that the MFC staff have better things than update the membership tally on the website every hour just to appease fans that don't have the patience to wait a few days.

But that's me. Its an arbitrary, inaccurate number that is not real time, but rather an indication at the time of update. Hence it's never going to be 100% accurate except for when it is posted, and even so, it's still probably not 100% accurate.

It might just be a 'Cookies' thing for those that know IT.

Also, you should go into the Membership area - that seems to be updated daily.

That bad start to the year has certainly hurt our numbers. When does the membership period end? Perhaps a couple of wins could just kick our numbers up.

Cut off is June 30....I think. Could also mount a case that the finish to the 2011 season also contributed.

I'd suggest the last 4 years has hurt our numbers...

And yet we're still ahead of St.Kilda (not to mention North and the Bulldogs)... imagine the numbers we could get if we had some sustained on-field success...

I don't think the number on their website is up to date.

Ah yep fair enough. Still, i'd like to see the tally if they'd spent 5 years down the bottom and we'd played in a couple of GFs. Start getting it together on field and we'll go 40k+. Decent effort this year all things considered.

or 11,809 per win.

or, roughly equivalent to the amount of hair I've torn out during Dees games this season.

I think theres always a danger in reading too much into some things. I suspect our membership of last year and the year before was a little inflated. You know..dogs, cats, kids, distant neices and nepthews all get signed up in the euphoria of the times. And then reality sets it. i.e Annus Horribilus

I suspect our fortunes , or peoples forecast of them will be reflected in next years memberships numbers and they will very much for some be directed by how they see the club shaping up. This in turn will be coloured by what the club does at seasons end.

Some of us just let the membership bill come ( or direct debits continue ) and we al lcarry on regardsless but there;s a sizable sector who decide on forking out their money on the basis of expectations.

A good clear out and some inspired drafting and trading will see the numbers stay strong, even possibly increase again. Get it wrong...and ...well..

must admit i didnt fork out for the same level of membership this year - although i do have a reserved "red" seat and a joint mcc/mfc membership still.

dont forget that some good results early next year, even NAB cup will boost membership numbers. of course.....we need to get good results too

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
