The Josh Caddy Thread

Consider this a howl down. HOWL to you Redleg!

We keep Bail because he is a weapon. I'd rather trade out a compo pick and double combo of Warnock, Spencil, Bate or Maric. Bail stays.

I agree with you Sloonie if we could get Caddy for 2 of those players or even all 4 of them and one compo pick, hooray. As I said I rate Bail.

For Caddy, first we need to accept dogs bid of pick 39 for Bate then -:

our Mid First round compo pick + Warnock plus exchange our newly acquired 39 in exchange for

Caddy + suns pick 50

Gives us out of this trade period. M.Clark, J. Caddy, Pick 36 & Pick 50. in affect Clark in Bate out - Caddy in Scully out - Pick 36 replaces maric pick 50 replaces warnock. covers off list management of having to move on min 3 players.

Next season still get Viney + still have live end of 1st rnd pick bloody good value. with GCS remember You have to give something worthwhile as Caddy under contract and GCS need to appear to have better deal going thier way. As Caddy was a #7 pick. (the boy can play)

Young gun Josh Caddy keen to help his dad.

If we're not trying to get involved in attracting Caddy to the club, we bloody well should be.

Will be a serious gun and wins his own footy.

I think we should go get him.

We need IMO big bodied Mids who win inside ball.

Caddy should be on a most wanted list. > 2012 2nd Comp pick + Warnock + $$$$$$$$$ to Josh + steakknives or more, to Suns.

Ok. I've got a question.

Hypothetically. If we nominate to use both compensation picks next year, and finish 8th.

we will in theory we will have pick 9(comp), 10 and 11(comp).

Would we be forced to use pick 9(comp) on Viney?

What if Misson can do some work on Tappy's endurance and get him to play the Role Caddy does, we know he has the hardness just ran out of tank as he got tired in his first full season.

Nothing against Caddy just haven't seen much of him,

PS against any suggestion trading Bail out the likes of him, Tappy, Garland and Howe are your lesser like players who turn good sides into Premiership contenders. Saints have stars but after that they fall away dramatically and IMO that is where they fell short

This guy is almost the opposite of the tappy or caddy midfielder

Elite endurance but doesnt have the same size, people must have forgotten that Bail is one of few demons that can run out a game this time last season, like how this guy is developing personally, cliche but another pre-season and he will look the goods imo under a better managed team

We should have a real crack at Caddy. I see him becoming like Brent Moloney (challenging his spot and filling it when Beamer retires) only much more lethal.

I'd keep our higher compo pick for next years draft, bring that player in with Jack Viney. 2 good pickups along with Clark and Caddy this year.

I would offer our 2nd compo pick + pick 36 (2nd rounder) + pick 39 (Matty Bate) and even Matthew Warnock for Caddy and one of the GC's later picks, as we will still need to draft some players (perhaps some smokies?).

Caddy is the classic 'big bummed' Collingwood midfielder. Talk before last year's draft was that Collingwood were hoping he'd fall to their first pick. Wonder if the Collingwood thinking regarding this style of midfielder will be reflected by the gameplan and approach of Neeld.

I agree I meant to say Bail is an absolute running machine

Anybody else think the "my dad's sick and I want to be near him, but I'll only go to the bummers" line is ridiculous.

If he really 'had' to return to Melbourne, he'd let GC trade with any Melbourne based club.

Just like one Mitch Clark 'said' I'm only going to the Dockers.

The media is the media after all.

The way the Bombers trade I'm incredibly confident if he gets trade it would be to any team other than them.

Hello Demons.

I'd give a compensation pick (plus change) for Caddy in a heartbeat, but I'd do my best to keep the "mid 1st round" compo pick.

From here on out, our rise up the ladder will continue, and as each year goes by the "after 1st round" compo pick will become less valuable.

Even now with Mitch Clark it has lost some value.

If only we'd been smart enough to do the deal for Clark, but put it on hold while we snaffle Caddy first.

Oh well, it should work out for us well either way.

The thing is, if it were to happen, we start to accumulate more and more players of the ilk of Gysberts, McKenzie, Tapscott... very good, but you can only fit so many into a side.

Depth is valuable, but you can only maintain it for so long before good players leave for more opportunities.

The economy of positions available in the side (22) means you want to squeeze as much talent into the one player as you can.

We really should have traded the 2 compo picks for an absolute elite kid.

That said, caddy is not far off IMO from being a lot like an angry Luke Ball.

If we make a play for Caddy and get him, it tells me that Neeld is all about being the best we can form day dot

He isnt looking to wait and develop through the draft we have done this for 4 years, he is actively looking to fill the voids as quickly as possible

Our midfirst rounder will just about be Caddy's value maybe overs, pick 9 next year and he went at 7 and only played 2 games or something?

Essendon are offering pick 20 plus add ons....

Very good points Lutz, we need 2 elite midfield performers tbh

Pendlbury types or close to this is our biggest "gap"

Of course its obvious, my point is more that i dont see how we are going to add them to our team at present,

Players drafted will take 3-4 years to hit the level required within a great midfield

And i dont enough about Caddy to suggest he is this type of quality

Well, If he still has one year of contract to serve, then the Suns surely can choose.

Best deal from Melb clubs would surely do It?

Paul Pickering says: I'm hearing that Melbourne are the other major bidder for Caddy.

Also spoke about Suns needing a ruckman. I would offer compo pick, Spencer and Warnock if they want him. That trumps Bombers by a mile unless they throw in star player. Their best pick is 19. That would mean we have replaced the bloke who left with Caddy and another compo pick next year.

Our compo pick in next years draft could well be a better option than 19 in this one. GC could be of the same mindset.

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
