  1. Wouldnt rule out 3 club trade in order to get 2 good young mids with 4-5 yrs experience (what mfc has said they wanted) with our pick 2. A lot of chatter still happening on the hawks after darling side of things. Maybe something like this. Could also involve further swapping of picks WCE get dees 1st pick & hawks 1st pick Hawks get darling Dees get shuey & savage
  2. Like his attitude from what i saw and heard. Plus looks like a skillfull, smart player that moves smoothly over the ground. Tipping Tom Mac and Rory would have been able to advise recruiters about character as well, seen as all from st pats. Like the pickup demons just need to develop the kids now.
  3. Bartram (retire degenerative knee, no cartilage left. Great clubman) Bate, morton (needs trade as contracted), dunn, petterd, green(retire), moloney, J.macdonald, Davey (retire body appears gone), Spencer. Likely more but have to delist at least 3 each year so some may be spared for then. Plus having to payout contracts will be taken into consideration. One thing is clear most supporters keep coming up with around 10 players and am tipping the club will go thru a mass culling at end of season.
  4. Our first 3 picks should secure top end talent this draft quite easily has depth to 15 at minimum. Out of that it becomes a needs basis for all clubs. Whitfield is the standout player Grundy is the standout big man Plowman a quality tall defender in U18 but beleive is only 190cm so maybe more of flanker in AFL. Inside mids Wines, Viney, O'rourke. Outside mids Toumpas, Mayes, Colquhon etc smalls like Kennedy, garlett, simpson etc then the ? Marks with undoubted ability but query over injuries in Stringer & Menzel. Point is all above kids have plenty of talent but they need to be developed correctly. My own preference is to secure Sam Mayes with one of the picks as after watching the championships a lot over the years i beleive mayes to be a player with a massive upside but already has the ability to walk right in to AFL now, if you want an elite kick and decision maker that can make others look better he is someone with that ability. Reminds of Scott Pendlebury when first saw him. Not ready for inside mid straight away but will become one then making him a complete mid with size which we need. All comes down to the players attitudes and quality of development by the coaches for all these kids as they have the talent
  5. Your kidding how bad can we get, [censored] poor.
  6. Better find some players with high football IQ this off season. Far too many poor decision makers currently on the list
  7. Wouldnt trade first 2 picks for beams & wellingham. But if get to a point where viney can be taken 2nd round, then i would consider making a play for both remaining gws mini draft picks by offering up first pick likely pick 3 overall. If accepted gws have 2 of first 3 picks overall. And we have option to walk away with -: jack martin + jesse hogan/josh kelly (personally i'd take kelly). Plus still have ability to take likes of a wines, toumpas, mayes, etc as whitfield & grundy look certain top 3. Then still have pick 13 up sleeve with a potential player of the ilk of a vlastuin, simpson, kennedy,o'rourke, garlett, mcdonough, stringer, shaw, colqhoun, thurlow, plowman, pongracic amongst others. On top of that j.viney in 2nd round. If gws try to hold ransom on both picks for 2 of our first 3 then i wouldnt do it. But you have to wonder what 2 seperate offers from other clubs could be better than pick 3 overall. Basically the cards that mfc have available to play with this trade period are brilliant and can setup the club for the next 10 years. Beams is a very good player & wellingham is good. But we need game breakers & match winners that make those around them better. We need to find and develop our own Pendlebury, rioli, goodes, hodge, bartel, black etc if we cant go out and buy them.
  8. Attended several training sessions over april can tell you that carrying injury imo as was put thru several tests before being able to join main group on occasions and rarely did whole session. Tests involved short bursts of running and had no explosion. Also gathering ball off deck turning sharply and stab passing either foot again couldnt balance and hit target very unlike trengove. And as previous poster said think luke ball and judd like in terms of playing nowhere near optimum levels but no further damage could happen. I say just rest him fully and modify training for him like pies did for ball. Was same for frawley over april hardly trained with main group.
  9. Mark Neeld just on SEN asked the question about Viney being taken with Demons first pick in draft, Neeld played straight bat said would have to see for instance if demons end up with overall pick 3 and if Viney is rated as 3rd best player then makes sense but if viney rated as top 10 then not gauranteed to take him as no gaurantees in football. I think he answered perfectly. BTW I bloody love the way Viney go's about his footy
  10. Awesome stuff rpfc. Clearly highlights just how bad the midfield group is performing, and in turn the pressure it puts on the backline and the lack of opportunity for the forwards. Our forwards seem to be converting opportunities when they get them. And considering how many times the ball is inside our backline the lads down there dont have much hope do they.theres been dramatic drop in midfield intensity from 2010 to 2012. This has to be addressed as priority.
  11. wyl is this the comment ? http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/afl/13423152/malthouse-demons-arent-a-club/ agree in order for malthouse to come out with a comment like this he must have some insight into exactly what Neeld is up against. i beleive culture is extremely important at any workplace / club and it's definitely not a nothing term. Just look at what the bloods have done up in sydney. and how geelong have instilled thiers to all young players coming thru thier club.
  12. Well swallow re signed with suns so off market. Still believe is exactly the type of midfielder we need. Explosive, hard running determined player. Hit this draft hard demons. We have makings of a good team just 5 or so holes still, which could be catered for this draft with the right recruiting. And hope likes of watts, trengove, grimes, clark, frawley and sylvia (i know) fullfill there natural talent as could all be elite players. An would make those around them better players
  13. From what i remember current status is Unrestricted Bate, dunn, jamar, green, Rivers Restricted Moloney Of these Moloney would hold some value and also jamar. Due to the status of jamar and free agency rules we would need him to have a very good year in order to maybe get an end of first round compensation pick at best. Moloney we would have option to match bid but why would we? Again if moloney has another good year then might recieve an end of first round pick. The only other player on list of value that i would be prepared to consider moving on would be blease. He has potentially massive upside but needs to play in order to show value to other clubs. We need to find several star players for the midfield. Unfortunately in our current state i dont believe the likes of a goddard would even consider the move. I would make my number 1 target David Swallow, beleive him to be out of contract at GC and looking to either get back home or closer to his brother. The kid will be a star and i would go hard for him and he would cost a lot in terms of picks and cash but he is exactly the type of player we need and has been under the guidance of G.Ablett for 2 years. Going by above we could make a move this year and potentially end up with 5 picks before the 2nd round alone in what is said to be the best draft yet. If using all picks then the recruiters need to have a successful crop come thru as it would make or break the club.
  14. Yes agree totally. The MFC needs to pay attention to this thread. For as long as i can remember MFC and its supporters have had the [censored] taken out of them by high profile media personalities, journos and other club supporters. MFC openly gets called soft and no response back from club or players. Other clubs supporters love it when there club plays MFC as its deemed an easy win and they get to make there off to the snow remarks. Well i dont go to the f...... Snow. I show up to everygame and put up with the crap on display. Pull your finger out MFC as if you get out to the crowds on gameday you will quickly realize 10 to 15 year olds dont support MFC and once a kid hits that age they dont tend to change teams like kids under 10 who can be swayed by a premiership or star player. Start to openly show some fight in response to media [censored] taking and show some fight out on the ground and then you might start to get some of your own supporters respect back and that of the opposition.
  15. Amazing that it was reported by several media people that Melbourne players believed they were being trained too hard over pre season. Far too many melbourne players dont show up after half time, they just pack up shop, they dont have the tanks required to last 4 qtrs. The coaches should extend pre season right thru to september if it means doing so in groups of 5 players at a time for 4 week periods then do it. As at right now very few should be feeling they deserve to be setting foot on the MCG.
  16. Didn't see N.Jones at training today. Beamer didnt train went straight to rooms after initial warmup. Stef trained entire session looked little bit sore though. Would expect Couch to debut.

  18. Something greater than ourselves could attribute to great things happening. In reference to the 04 red sox
  19. [censored] happens sometimes you have to go back in order to progress forward. I hope this is the case for MFC playing list. The West Coast fans went through hell in 2010 got smashed pillar to post, everyone said Worsfold's time was up. Look at them now with basically the same list. Yeah i'm extremely dissapointed watching crap like we put up with every week, but i'm going to give Neeld and his team a chance to progress. Under the current regime its been 2 rounds. i'm impatient i think all MFC members are and rightly so, but lets back the coach and club in and hope the players do to. We will see by the end of the season and trade period which players really want to play for the Red & Blue. The 2010 season was the West Coast Eagles' 24th season in the AFL. The Eagles finished 16th and last to record their first wooden spoon in the competition, just four years after their premiership season of 2006. West Coast played 22 games, including 12 at Subiaco Oval, winning just four and losing the remaining eighteen. Squad 1 Mitch Brown 2 Mark LeCras 4 Daniel Kerr 5 Brad Ebert 6 Mark Nicoski 7 Chris Masten 8 Beau Waters (vice-captain) 9 Nic Naitanui 10 Scott Selwood 11 Matthew Priddis (vice-captain) 12 Brad Sheppard 13 Luke Shuey 14 Koby Stevens 15 Tom Swift 16 Eric MacKenzie 17 Josh Kennedy (vice-captain) 18 Bradd Dalziell 19 Tim Houlihan 20 Dean Cox (vice-captain) 21 Quinten Lynch 22 Ryan Neates 23 Darren Glass (captain) 24 Matthew Rosa 25 Shannon Hurn (vice-captain) 26 Sam Butler 27 Ben McKinley 28 Ashley Smith 29 Ashley Hansen 30 Matthew Spangher 31 Will Schofield 32 Andrew Embley 33 Jordan Jones 34 Tony Notte 35 Patrick McGinnity 37 Adam Selwood (vice-captain) 38 Brett Jones 42 Beau Wilkes 44 Gerrick Weedon Rookies: 36 Callum Wilson 39 Lewis Broome 40 Will Sullivan 41 Andrew Strijk 43 Ashton Hams 45 Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls 47 Lewis Stevenson 48 Adam Cockie
  20. Cam schwab tweeted april 3rd 'Measure of a club will always be how strongly it supports Its own people and values' The way i see it energy watch must go. The club will move forward and its people will follow a club of integrity.
  21. Demon spurs are you thinking of rnd 14 1998? We came off to absolute hidings to cats and sa ints and defeated eagles by couple of goals over there. Ended up finishing 4th that year and belted eventual premier in 1st week of finals
  22. I'd play Stef down back to take on the oppositions gorilla forward. Hes quick over the first 10 is strong and gives him a set task to perform. Frees up garland/rivers/frawley from having to constantly play on the bigger bodies who always monster us. I'd like to get to a point where melbourne defenders have a size advantage over thier opponents rather than the other way round.
  23. The result logically should be a comfortable win to the eagles. Im More interested in seeing which players show -: spirit, heart, commitment, aggression, desire. And for how long over the course of the game. I want to know which players are going to walk the walk.
  24. Imo believe neeld is in the process of seeing who is united behind the direction he is going in. He has been since he first got to the club. He has given every player on the list an opportunity even those that many believe have no place on the list and he will turn over the list until he has what he wants. He has done the right thing by the players he is honest with them and speaks to them before talking to media so that players cannot look at the papers and see something he hasnt spoken to them about first. But like he said on the couch he was talking to the supporters when doing the press conference after the lions game as he doesnt believe supporters deserve cliche's i loved hearing that as now when he has to reign himself in next time we all know what he will be really thinking. One comment in particluar 'we have a core group of younger players or at least inexperienced players and they'll be ok'. Says to me that he has players he believes can take the club forward and avoid falling into the holes that other experienced players have fallen into. He is going to work with this inexperienced group of players and its up to the experienced group to fall into line he is/has given them the opportunity to do so, it really doesnt say much for those that dont grab this opportunity with both hands. Its going to take time and everyone is impatient but the more support and buy in from everyone associated with club the quicker we will all see more positive results.
  25. The example set by the so called previous leadership group was [censored] poor for far too long. The young recruits coming into the club over the last 5 plus years have been shown the completely wrong way to go about having a successful afl career. I honestly believe that off field the club has taken great strides forward but on field there has been no improvement. Too many times when watching melbourne play you see players fail to do the team things i.e block for a teammate at stoppages, shephard for teammates to allow time for a more efficient disposal, lower thier eyes to hitup a leading forward, be unselfish in the forward 50 when a teammate is in a better position, fail to run back hard enough to assist the backline. So one thing i would like to see happen is the current leadership group bring the squad together and DEMAND that standards are lifted and in order to do so these young leaders have to set this example from scratch. If a player does not have the required work rate to lift thier level of performance then they need to be held accountable. Just like how geelong players set there required standards in early 2007 season. The required standards need to come from -: Grimes, Trengove, Jones, Bartram, Frawley, Jamar, Clark & Garland. And the improvement needs to come from every player on the list.... If you cant then goodbye thank you for your service and move on.
