On a sidenote, this is what journalism sounds like in South Australia.......

Meatloaf worthy. Horrible horrible questions

Horrible, horrible interview from these clowns. Give Neeld a few years in the job and he won't be answering those [censored] questions so nicely.

Interesting part - Words to this extent - "We've got one more appointment to make in the development area and all 3 candidates are from the TAC system". Similar to Greaves and Satterley.

Also talked a lot about Craig and the system whereby he and Misson won't be overruled but will be challenged to be the best.

Interesting comment by Neeld.

Yesterday I came to the conclusion that the development role for the backline wouldn't go to Leigh Brown as many (including Hagdorn) have predicted.

But then I saw on TAC cup futurestars today that Brown has been coahing TAC cup at the cannons (I think) for some time.

Pencil him in.

they're full of Farmers Union Iced Coffee,

Despite that, i think whenever radio stations allow 15 minutes of time there is always going to be a really nice insight and relaxation into whatever is being discussed.

Loved the joke about how the coaches are "trained" not to make big statements and he made one on his first day in saying he wanted Melbourne to be the hardest team to play against!

Also really liked his comments on Jack Viney, can't wait for him to join the club!

Have a feeling some balls will really drop from the players from their first training session, we might not have got MM but hell we have his clone.

Can't hear the interview - what was said about Viney?

The key points Mark Neeld made were:

  • Jack will be a 'beauty';
  • he is 'showing all the signs of being a hard-at-it inside mid-fielder, with skills';
  • 'Like his old man, he has the tenacity to hunt the footy';
  • He (Neeld) is 'very much looking forward to being part of Jack's development as a footballer'.
  • watched him play in the TAC GF where he had 34 posessions, etc, etc, and 'probably clashed heads with every opposition player out there' (meaning that he was on the bottom of every pack)

havent seen jack play but sounds like he is a joel selwood/sam mitchel type, would this be around the mark?

i'd say you're pretty close,

i only saw the last quarter of the TAC GF but to be honest, he reminded me of a tiny Todd.

Maybe. Id say more aggressive than both of those guys and perhaps not as neat disposal, but I cant remember how Mitchell went at the same age.

I think Mitchell was overlooked in two national drafts before being picked up by the Hawks in the mid 30s. On the basis of that, I think you can assume Viney's way ahead of Mitchell at the same age.

I take your point. i honestly cant remember seeing Mitchell as a kid.....but per your comment perhaps nobody noticed him :P

Wow - Thanks for posting the link Mephis

Mark Neeld is just insanely impressive to listen too.

I was spruiking the Underwhelmed chant initially at his appointment.

Has turned me around very quickly - Is one very focused individual.

I reckon Trade Week will through up even more excitement.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

    BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

    Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
