Do the MFC get 2 first rounders for compensation? Will they be 2 end of first round mid first round?

Would the team with pick 1 in the 2012 draft consider trading 3 first round picks for the number one pick and MFC pick up Jack Viney with it's second round pick?

One mid first round and one pick immediately after MFC's first-round pick.

Interesting. We may be after an under 17 pick from GWS though.

According to Channel 10 sport, the AFL just announced we will get 2 first rounders as compensation. Um, 1 and 2 please.

Just heard this myself- good news --now it is up to B.P to gain best recruits once again.

Let's tank and get pick 1 again.

Because number 1 is a guaranteed keeper... wait, what?

Haven't we learnt anything?

If we tank again, we are done. We will be the undisputed joke of the competition- and it will be deserved!

Any teams want to trade an experienced leader for two high draft picks in a compromised draft?

The club has immense potential to bring in someone considerable. Look at teams like Freo, St. Kilda, Doggies. We can fill some current voids on our side with experienced players.

+ Ross Lyon = flag within 3 years.

Do it Dees.

So if we say finish 8th next year what picks would we get?

Assuming no other team activates their own compensation picks, and Gold Coast don't get a PP:

- Pick 11 (mid first rd pick compo)

- Pick 12 (for finishing 8th)

- Pick 13 (first rd pick compo which comes after our 1st pick)

Think this is how it works, assuming mid first rd pick comes after all other team's picks who don't make finals...

I'd like to suggest we go harder @ the AFL demanding we get better, the first pick of 2012 to replace our priority pick, + another

You know the Blues & the Pies would, as did the Cats.

Confirmed on AFL Website two first round picks we will come out the winner here, provided we use them wisely. We must leave them to 2012 though.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/123357/default.aspx

If we finish near the bottom next year, which I expect we will, we could finish up with, say pick 3 & 4 or picks 4 & 5 plus a pick at the end of the first round in 2012. That would be harder to predict as other clubs will be using their delayed compo picks in that year. But if the draft is as good as is expected we could have three top picks in the top 20, not sure if we will have to use one on Jack Viney but if we do it will be the last one in the first round, if not we get him as well.

You little beauty.

Hope MFC gets aggressive with these compo picks but remember that they can be used anytime within the next 5 years, therefore won't necessarily have to be used in a compromised draft.

Looks like any club with a comp pick will probably look to use in next year, though, as is meant to be a bumper draft. This in itself could devalue them if WB, Ade, Fre, Gee, GC etc all look to use their compo picks in the same 2012 draft.

I like the idea of keeping one for 2012 but looking to trade another to either bring in an experienced mid, or get our hands on a pick in the mini-draft (probably accompanied by a player).

Tom who? Seriously, forgotten about the kid already. As I'm sure most here have now.

do the doggie supporters feel duped now? compo for us was had to be bigger- given the #1 tag that accompanied the forgotten man. What did doggies get for Ward?

Cameron Schwab seems to reckon we will get compensation picks for "What's his face" that are along the the lines of what the Cats got for Gary Ablett - Hope he's right - thought he was quite impressive at the Melbourne press conferance btw - Our Club has shown a lot of class throughout this whole sorry saga and I'm quite proud of how we've handled it .

We were in a no win situation for most of the year and right at the end we could come out way on top esp if "Prima Donna Tom" has a shortened career due to his degenerative knee - I'll bet any money he reads these threads so we should let him have it !

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
