RUMOUR FILE

Kicking of the rumour file, here's one from "Deep Throat" on twitter:-

Mitch Clark wants out. Home move most likely but don't discount Victorian teams. Melbourne and bulldogs circling

NOTE: You can't just do a Chilliboy (a former well loved poster here) and state a rumour or make one up. You have to point to a source, even if it has no credibility whatsoever.

Can Mitch Clark play forward? Or would this free up Jamar to play forward (assuming there's substance to the rumour of course).

There's another one from Tom Steinfort from twitter

"Sheedy just hinted very strongly to me that Tom Scully will be announced as a GWS player next Monday""

Then he tweeted

"To clarify - I said "what day next week will you announce Scully's signing?", Sheeds said "the early bird catches the worm"

Hope not true.

Nothing in this apart from the I've heard etc so I'd really say nothing in it, but I've ears Martin is a massive chance of going to Richmond. If it were true this could explain our supposed interest in Mitch Clarke.

I thought i read somewhere last week that Martin signed a two year deal ?

Yeah I thought that I'd heard he'd sines as well, but someone posted on here that he's unsigned. Not sure what his current status is. Any info on that would be great!

I remember reading that he signed and that secured our ruck stocks with Jamar in contract ,Gawn signed up and then stef . 90 percent sure he signed back up but confirmation would be good .

I have heard that one too. I am a massive Mitch Clark fan, so would love this to happen for the right price.

Some may have read my comments regarding Brendan Goddard on a thread or two. It's no secret that I have mentioned him in filling our needs as far as leadership goes and strengthening the midfield as far as quality goes. He ticks a few boxes, and I have said dangle something with the captaincy.

I have a source (close to Carlton) that says he wants out at the Saints and wouldn't mind going to Carlton ($@@!). He had good mail on R.Warnock before it blew up.

I'd like our club to approach Goddard. G.Lyon addressed a possible scenario back in June regarding Goddards comments at the time that would suggest he would be open to a change of clubs, that the Saints be better off trading Goddard this year, instead of next year if GWS targeted him in return for compo picks. ie. get something in return now like compo pick/pick/and/or player.

A decent enticement.... ? And insurances off-field matters are a thing of the past... . Long shot, but...

I've been saddened by the news that Jordan Russell is on the outer at the Blues...

Would love to land Goddard, that would be a huge win for the club. I'm sure all St. Kilda supporters would love us if we picked up not only their coach but Goddard also.

Very pleased to hear Russell's on the way out at Carlton. He's someone I've mentioned in another thread that I reckon we should chase, ticks a few boxes for us I reckon.

Edit: Russell plays for Carlton, not St. Kilda

Russell? You make me spew! Is'nt the type of player we need. He aint good enough for AFL. Very very ordinary!

We are seriously in trouble if we go down this path...

2nd in Carlton's B&F the other year, uses the ball well, decent pace and can play a shut down defensive role on small and mid sized forwards, no don't know what I was thinking....

Russell in our back line means someone like a Grimes, Bail or Blease can spend more time in the midfield to cover Scully's loss.

A source at work - a current st kilda player - was told by Ross Lyon last week that Lyon would be coaching at the Saints next year. Another separate source at work, a well connected Melbourne supporter who is good friends with St Kilda's list manager, told me that everyone at St Kilda thinks Lyon is locked in at the Saints.

Now, this is not to say that Lyon isn't coming to Melbourne. Rather, it is suggesting that Lyon is no sure thing and that if he is coming to Melbourne he has a lot of people within the club fooled. Personally, I'm more confident that he'll come to the Dees than I was about Scully staying...hmmm, do you think Betfair will be able to work out odds based on that statement?

The Saints are sitting down with him this week, so I think by the end of this week we will have our answer...

Probably first and last rumour from me.

Enjoy

Reported in The Sun that Morton and Martin both resigned yesterday. Looks like CM is in future plans for the time being.

Well, my rumours are on the money, considering Ross Lyon had already confirmed he is staying at the Saints - fail.

Yes Russell plays for Carlton. Why I mentioned him - I'm guessing. Has been mentioned in despatches with GWS murmurings, but if the rumour is true that BG wants to get to the Blues, they'll have to trade accordingly to meet the needs of the Saints. Blues have a few players they can trade, Russell being one. They'll have to give up 'a fair bit' to get him though. It would take more than Russell. Just my thoughts.

It may not even be this year...apparently (could be next year, when his contract finishes).

I would just like our club to investigate. That's all I want.

PS. I'm relieved this thread is rumour only, no facts...lol

Jordan Russell is a spud. Its all good and well to say he had a high B&F finish at his club a couple of years ago, but so did Matthew Bate.

The fact that he cant get a game at the moment in front an ungainly Irishman (Tuohy) and an equally spud-like Marcus Davies tells me his time at Carlton is coming to an end. No Thanks.

Interesting the irony of supposed links between Goddard and Carlton, given that before AFL sanctions removing their picks 1&2 in the draft he, along with Daniel Wells, would've ended up Blues players.

Guest Jack Donaghy

It was seen as a bit of a fairytale leading up to the draft, before the picks were taken away from Carlton.

Goddard comes from a fiercely bogan diehard Carlton supporting family.

He was said to be crushed when he found out about the cap breach penalties.

I reckon he has always harboured a desire to go to Carlton, as have their supporters, so I'm not at all surprised to see this rumour floated as soon as the sign of cracks begin to show at Moorabbin.

You would think that Goddard would want to go to a club that is going to win a Premiership in the next few years, so I think we might be out of the race there! Dont want to see him go to Carlton, they dont deserve him after their cheating.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
