AFL loves biffo. Big on sling tackles and hands anywhere near a players back as well.

I really hate winning footy games as well, so lets just ignore modern tactics...yeahhhhhhh.

Don't overestimate your perception of my post. By Biffo I mean I prefer the Hawks ways (with a touch of Unsociablity) as against the Saints boring and Unphysical to me, gamestyle.

I prefer the Catters big bodied gamestyle to that of the Pies flood and press.

Don't forget the great players of the Cats are ageing, Up against the more youthful list of the Pies with their rocket science, 'sports science'. If Bomba had those facilities at his availability he would still be winning flags with the Cats.

I just don't like the way the Saints and the Pies play the game. Much prefer the Hawks, decimated over recent years to Key position players,,, and the Cats (getting older) gamestyle.

Not over until we hear officially that he is staying.

Yeah, for all the bravado and info. we were told last night re:Ross staying at the Saints, there has not even been anything remotely close to such a situation in the media today. If it were the case, there would have at least been something. There is still more water to pass under the bridge me thinks!

or it could be a decoy for ross lyon- has anyone seen this video footage from mick?

http://one.com.au/video.htm?tags=sport:code!AFL

pg 2 afl videos- in 'time on debate', listen to what mick says about which teams make finals from outside the 8 next year

Wow!

I know Malthouse can be quite ambiguous when he speaks, but that raised my eye brows. If I didn't know any better I'd say Mick was definitely trying to intimate something is going on..

Then again it is Mick lol..

Interesting footage of mick

Gary Lyon doesnt give anything away, but you get the feeling he is truly satisfied with the MFC situation, and he is under pressure to come in and get things right, also the fact that we are so so open about wanting a big name couch

Then Ross Lyon, yeah their were the articles yesterday, but i got the feeling they were more to do with RL has started negotiations, then moved to signed, then moved to seeing out his contract which is what you would say if your not going to sign a new one currently

How can RL turn down 5 years 5 Millions dollars when it is quite plainly obvious he and the saints FD department dont completely agree with the clubs future direction

All fun and games, especially with nothing on the AFL or Saints web pages, even if RL was only seeing out his contract you would imagine that the Saints would want to truly bury these rumour's 100%, which is not the case

Alot of loose ends atm, i i only see i missing out on 1/3 big name coaches so far

Cagey old fox isn't he. Probably just stirring the pot and hamming it up for the boys on the panel.

A few others have said on here that the longer we don't announce an appointment of a coach the more likely it is it'll be Mick given the filth's in the finals and he can't negotiate/commit.

Gonna be a long 3 to 4 weeks if that's the case

If Ross commits and then the Dogs and Adelaide appoint Coaches before us i will be reasonably confident something is on the burner... Cant get much worse from that point anyway..... we will have the market to ourselves haha *winning*

or quite possibly *losing* big time. If no one's available and we miss out on the lot we go Viney (which I have no problem with), now I know this will mean at least we had a dip to try and land a big fish, but it's not sending a strong message of faith to (Mr 3/4/5th choice) Viney, and once again the dees will come across un influential and dare I say, weak.

I bloody well hope like hell that Mick is going to come to us. Not only will he turn us around on the park but our image will increase 10 fold. Not only will Sully be well and truly yesterdays news, but all our recent plights will be forgotten, because we would have pulled off a massive coup!

I hear you. I want to see us harden up and play a great attacking style as well, no doubt its more attractive.

But I know that winning tastes better than losing no matter how we play.

I think we're on the same page.

Chris Scott was rejected for the Port job i believe before he got the Cats job, the Best candidates, and Strongest personalities will eat this stuff up and spit it out (In our faces), they will tell us that we dodged a bullet and are lucky to get them.

Also the *winning* thing is kinda an ironic personal joke, i understand it wouldnt be an ideal

position to be in haha.

3 first year Coaches in finals this year, Hird, Longmuire and Scott, they can tbe that bad an option

Mick Malthouse definitely has a few screws loose upstairs if you ask me. You can't really take anything he says too seriously, or you too will end up in the loony bin. Just look >

LOL I know he is an incoherent retard in front of the cameras at press conferences, but he doesn't have to speak to the media when he's at the club teaching the kids. He knows how to speak the language of football, at least :P

Our post match confeences will be amusing at least!

More that you made it sound like any coach we get from now on will be put out by us having other preferences,

and that it wont bother them in my opinion

The last bit being a note about the ability of current first year coaches and that they arnt struggling

Just general observations really

I get it now, but the main differnece in my mind is that Viney is currently the incumbent, it would be the same as directly saying to him your not good enough to keep this post, but you can stay if we can't get anyone else though.

Semantics though, I'm sure anyone who wants a gig as a main coach, and gets it, doesn't whine about the process they had to endure to obtain it.

I just wish they would hurry up and appoint someone.

I hope they don't.

If you want Malthouse - the only time you will know for certain (outside of SEN-like whispers) will be in mid October.

I am happy to wait and I want my club to test his resolve by waiting.

I would like to see us have the coaching situation settled before trade week; I wouldn't think it's ideal to go looking for talent while the club appears to be rudderless.

Oct 5th-10th would be ok with me. But as long as we get what the club wants.

edit: I think trade week finishes Oct 17th IIRC, so anywhere perhaps up until then. Preferably earlier.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
