I know peoples opinions are deeply divided on young Cale.

He put contract talks on hold until the season was over.

What are peoples thoughts on if he will re-sign or move elsewhere?

Could he be the GWS fallback option???

Posted

He'll be re-signed in due course IMO. Needs a new coach more than any player on our list.

Agreed.

Needs and actual role.

Posted

Re-signed for sure.

Still very much a required player with much upside and i think a new coach will do him the world of good.

Cale has absolutely no currency on the trade market, the question is whether he has more up side than the third/fourth/fifth round draft pick (depending on how many we delisted).

As much as he frustrated me and you demonlanders, I think we may be better off keeping him. He may end up as another Sylvia "AFL's biggest under-achievers" but at worst we can have a perpetual scapegoat.

I would love to see him resign. I'm still a big wrap for him. He is one of many that has had a really bad run with injury and if he can get some consistency and confidence I think he can live up to the lofty expectations we have all placed on him.

A new coach.

A big pre-season in the gym.

Renewed confidence.

= the Andrew Embley style star.

Agreed.

I see him as a lead up forward in the Matty Richardson mould.

Has the engine for the current game style of pressing up the wing.

He will run his opponent into the ground and is surprisingly good overhead.

Just needs to stack on a few more kilo's over the summer.

I think that the fact, that he isn't signed already, means he's on thin ice, and we're probably waiting to see IF any offers are floated about, to way up?

I wasn't quite sure how I felt about Cale Morton until I saw this post. Perfect summary, matter of fact, no drama. Nice work Nasher.

I reckon he's on track to be All Australian.

Great call. I haven't given up on Cale but then again I'm a happy clapper.

6 David Myers

7 Rhys Palmer

8 Lachlan Henderson

9 Ben McEvoy

10 Patrick Dangerfield

20 Tony Notte

21 Addam Maric

22 Scott Selwood

Anyone think we just should've gone a Selwood before Maric?

Seriously, this draft is full of some flakes. All been hit and miss in some way or another. May as well give him another couple of years.

(The top 2, Harry Taylor, Grimes and obviously Cyril are of course excluded from the above. Cyril does not belong in this draft!)

He is gone! Get him out of here....

Trade him to GWS for one of there 17 year olds.

Some serious talent there, all chronically injured. Could certainly still turn out a super-draft yet.

100% agree. A new coach who takes a different approach and gives him a clear idea of what he has to do in the team will work wonders for him. It would help if he knew what position they want him to play too.

I do hope so but even with a new coach I think it will be 2 years at least until the best is seen of Morts.

The blokes gotta learn to eat,lol,........Cale has disappointed, like a lot of his team mates, at times, but there is talent in that skinny frame...... a new coach,I can only hope!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
