Yes, who was right?

I took his word. Sue me. I trusted a Demon.

He may have signed up before that press conference - I don't know.

He may have made this pathetic decision this week - I don't know.

I care about one thing in all this - the MFC.

I'm moving on - who is with me?

Weak weak weak

you and others had the temerity to shout down anyone who had the gall to call into question young Tom's seemingly godlike teflon coated 'honesty'

Well you can slink off to you little corner now. "I dont know" " I dont know" " "I dont know"

if youd thought hard enough and applied much of that reason and logic that you do have it ought to have occured to you it was all a crock.

Go Dees

My my...some of you have changed your tune .

Im not bitter agaisnt Scully. I had every inkling this was happening, nothing made sense unless you took the view it was a sham, a charade and lo and behold , he was probaly not telling the whole and unequivocal truth. In simple terms for some. He was lying. Some may cling , for whatever reason works for them, that hes only just made up his mind ; but the more rational amongst us know this is a furphy.

Now do some of you get it.????

Still trust in Tom ??? lol

Why do this?

My belief that Tom was telling the truth at that press conference is irrelevant. No-one has proved either way at this stage.

The only fact in all of this is that he has gone.

I don't care anymore. It was a short 'gutted' period and now I am just eager to get a coach, steal some IP, and get our hands dirty in trade week.

Round 1 next year Swans Vs GWS

Round 2 would like to see the Dees Vs GWS at the G.

Bring it on.

Nah the AFL will protect him and we will be playing them up there the first game just like Geelong/Gold Coast. If we are lucky we will get to play them here some time late in the season say Round 16 onwards.

He'll pay for his decision.

It might not be Round 1 next year when the AFL put us together as a showcase game; it might not be in 3 years.

Tom Scully is losing out because in 10 years he'll miss something beautiful. Melbourne Football Club have had one their darkest years in decades and come out stronger. He have a strong board, our most noticible figure is finally involved in the club and a man who sacrifices his life to lead the club.

The money will be brilliant Tom, but when you sit your kids on your knee in 30 years you left the club with the best history for the club with the worst and nothing has now motivated more to buy 3 memberships and pump money into this club because I want success. No longer do I want success just for me and you. I want success to shove it up the ones who didn't stand by us.

Gary Ablett copped so much flack for the first 10 weeks of this year, only beating the media by continual 30-40 possession games and leading by example.

Have fun Tom.. You'll need it.

Posted

And can you be sure Scully didn't wait until the end of the season to decide?

Some people just don't think.

Yeah I bet you believe he was just going up to have a look yesterday as well? Do you seriously think the decision was only made in the last 24 hours? If so I've got a bridge for sale.

Wonder how Gary Lyon is feeling considering he thought we were still a chance at keeping TS last week as per his comments on FC.

You dont BS a Legend like Gary and also Stynes, very disrespectful TS.

Why BB?

You didn't know when he signed and you still don't.

But the money grubber has signed - that is a fact.

I am not in any corner - I thought he would stay because I was attributing my values on to him.

I objected to calling him a liar and a traitor without evidence. He may not have been, until this week - you don't know.

So stop giving me your smug ire and send it toward Breakfast Point.

Now lets go put that money to a better use.

Trade week he we come :)

The one good thing is that the league in their draw might seek to let us play the giants twice next year, similar to how they let the cats play the suns twice this year.

The downside is that we will probably gift them their first win as is the Melbourne way

All the saps who accepted him lying his face off at the start of the year should keep their thoughts to themselves on journalists now. Who was right?

I don't think I will you know Ned but thanks for your input any ways.

We all support the Dees here guys and everyone has opinions.

Dont we all love this Club (even though they drive us insane at times)?

Lets all move on.

GO THE MIGHTY DEES.

But surely all this doesn't mean a poor little 20 year old was lying does it?

How could people accuse him of this!

Well it's been smacking us in the face for the past 12 months now..........and even one of our greats in Scwhartz gave everyone the big heads up, along with Eddie, and every journo out there.

But they clearly had no idea what they were talking about did they, because Tom said!

Sorry, I hate being a smarta**e, but some of the "faith in Tom" comments were sickening to say the least throughout this circus.

I don't blame him for going...............I always put myself in his shoes, and the money was too great to knock back.

Combine that with ongoing knee problems, and the MFC issues this year, and it was too hard to make a case for him to stay.

Barry Prendergast - over to you now, for no other draft picks are likely to be as deeply scrutinised as the Scully compensation picks!

All the best for the future Tom...........break a leg up there!

This day has been coming for months now. maybe close to a year as it was surely back in last Oct that the seeds were sown.

Personally I think we are well rid of him. I dont think , unfortunately, he'll ever get to the lofty heights many think he will. GWS have paid well over the odds in my opinion.

We are a proud club, with great tradition. Its values are not his and will never be. Dont judge the club by who has left but rather who remains

Take the money and run young Tom. Enjoy your time with that bunch of mercenaries. Not sure how you'll go with an eternity of losing but good luck with that..

Now do some of you get it.????

Still trust in Tom ??? lol

I trusted the words of a kid that plays for my club, so shoot me. B59, your arrogance is sickening. So what if you could see the writing on the wall and chose to disbelive, as opposed to some of us who chose to believe. What do you achieve by getting this right? What does the Club achieve by $cully leaving? Are we better off without him? Anyone that says we are are kidding themselves. We have lost our Number 1 draft pick after 2 seasons, a pick that we "earned" from finishing on the bottom for 2 years in a row. A player that, in the year he was drafted, was judged the best young talent in Australia. A player that many believe will be the next superstar, which time will tell if this is correct. And in return, we are looking at a pick 15 and 25 or something? You think that's a win for the proud Melbourne Football Club? Do you now think we are better off?

Maybe we should call Schwabby "Colonel Henry Blake " from now on. Anyone remember the MASH episode with the desk .

"Nice desk Henry ,What is it Oak?" "Nope ,it's Oak".

That is hilarious that Episode, with the helicopter!!!!B)

Has anyone heard from the players as to how they feel about this ?

Be interested in their take .

Did they believe Scully would stay or had they already written him off?

Or was Scully that introverted he had no friends in the team that he would even consider confiding in??

I await with interest their responses.

I truly suspect , if he was asked off camera and off the record that Lyon never really believed he was stil a chance. He might have hoped, buit didnt beleive. More the point he would have hoped Scully was the man he beleived he to be as opposed to the reality of who he has shown.

Garry has a hard gig. He has to get things done in the nitty gritty whilst showing the world all is well and clam. He wants to appease the membership whilst having to deal with realities.

Its all a song and dance show really. I dont htink either of Stynes or Lyon were conned. It was just teh brave face put on for the benefit of the club and its followers. Its politics as it applies to Sport.

Like Malthouse, I don't blame the kid, I blame the AFL. They says the clubs created the rules, but in all reality if the rule didn't suit them and their 'fatally flawed' vision of a second Sydney team then it would have been changed.

The only real compensation for losing a number one pick is another number one pick; but that is not going to happen. The only fair way I can see out of this is that the AFL makes GWS on-trade Melbourne's choice of 17 year olds as compensation.

For too long the AFL has screwed over teams like Melbourne, Fitzroy, Footscray, South Melbourne, St. Kilda and North Melbourne.

I also put myself in his shoes - which is one reason why I trustred his word that he hadn't signed.

I wouldn't have gone. It's a bad decision that we have to make him regret.

And it starts by getting Malthouse or Lyon and getting something done in trade week.

Looking forward to Trengove's image on the Banner

I have never been to worried about Tom staying or going and had believed the club will win either way. The next step is getting the compensation we deserve but I'm starting to feel that we may be shafted by the mighty AFL. I'm hoping for a mid and late first round pick but my gut is starting to say we will end up with late first round and maybe late second round pick if the latter happens then we have been totally screwed by the AFL.

I remember last year they released compensation pretty much the same day as the signing announcements, does anyone know when we will be advised of this.

As I said previously this is a line in the sand time for the club

Lets not have any gloating from either side of our supporters as to who was right and who was wrong

We are Melbourne, we are all in this together

Tom Who?

Felt gutted this morning but over it now guess I prepared for it over the weekend. If you r not commited to the club then really we are better off. What doesn't kill you make you stronger

Close the thread and move on

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
