The way back

Coming home from the football and the days afterward have become such a hollow experience. Is there a way back? Which act of courage or game-lifting performance will return the Demons to the path we all hoped for only a season or so ago? Or are 'systems' all-pervasive?

Liverpool fan so probably biased, but that was simply THE GREATEST performance from a captain in any sport i have ever seen. Sent shivers down my spine watching that.

That is on field courage to come back when all hope is seemingly lost, i'd love to see the Dees have that kind of courage once this year.

(Btw, You'll Never Walk Alone is the most amazing fan song)

The Way Back 2012

Jimmy resigns as President to become Club Patron

Gary Lyon agrees to become Board Member.

Cameron Schwab publically releases the infamous report and, if appropriate, apologises for whatever it is we don’t know.

We appoint an independent Football Director with experience of building an elite sporting team and supporting structures. (I don’t care what code they come from).

We appoint a Coach with proven game day abilities and a desire to build an elite culture.

Our coaching team includes the coach's possible successor, proven mid field and defensive assistants.

Our players are told they will be expected to achieve elite levels and perform their designated roles and responsibilities on the field at no less than 80% effectiveness otherwise they will be spending time in the magoos. No one gets a second game if they fall short of expected performance hurdles.

Our supporters sign on to become elite as well. The most loyal and supportive group in the league.

We stop compromising.

We stop whining and start with a winning attitude.

We fight and scratch our way back to the top.

Sounds all good to me, if only it could all happen though.

I would really like to know what was on that report, and if it's true that we almost completely ignored a lot of key aspects to it.

I'm not much of a behind the scenes man, but I highly doubt that type of report is ever designed to be seen by public eyes.

I think you're right HG and this is why certain parasites of the press keep bringing it up

They think if they keep harping on it and make out there is a coverup that they can force the clubs hand

For all we know the report didn't find any major problems or if it did there were plans put into place to address them

I presume its a confidential report to the board/CEO and should stay that way

However, I would be disappointed if it was ignored/not acted on promptly (assuming there was cause to)

Supporters asking for the report to be disclosed are just voyeurs

Edit: typos

to win a game from what seems to be from a "unwinnable" position requires belief, trust in team-mates, unquestionable support from the supporters, leaders created both before that day AND during that day, and a never give up attitude amongst other things.

Many times this season we have found ourselves in similar positions and everytime this season we have failed to react in a way that even has a skerrig of a resemblance to the way Liverpool reacted in the second half.

There is a reason people refer to "the Liverpool way". It's a turn of phrase that encompasses many aspects of Liverpool FC, it's history, it's players and it's supporters. If anything what could be described as "the Melbourne (FC) way" would be an embarrassment and is indicative of the problems we find ourselves in as a club right now.

I believe we belong at the top of the pile, but we need to start acting like it and the club leaders, administration, board, president and players need to genuine believe it and want to make it happen.

Just by the way, there is no real equivalent of coming back from a 3-goal deficit in Aussie Rules footy. Just isn't comparable. Oh yeah, and Gerrard dived for the penalty which eventually led to the equalising goal, not that I complained at the time or care anymore! Gerrard also played much of the extra-time period filling in at right back and stopping the Milan substitute full-back Serginho.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
