this whole idea is a load of crap.

Collingwood would be on top if they did there summer training at Philip Island.

They have a team of very good players it is IMO that simple.

THe cats did not go to Arizona and it does not seem to be worrying them so far.

North didn't go to NZ - they went to Utah for altitude training.

I can confirm they spent 3 weeks there (at a cost of a little over $500k). The cost of the trip was 'supported' by 2 major North supporters (namely a former foster's chief and elder's executive) who are both on the North board. It was sold to these 2 backers and others as an elite training camp, where supporters could come and watch an elite training program close up and potentially use in their own personal/business lives.

I've been given the impression that North didn't see the immediate effects this year, but rather they expect the benefits to occur in 2+ years, as players learn how to push themselves that little bit harder and harder (due to the altitude).

Thank-you great quality information. Heard quite a few other clubs are about to jump on the altitude bandwagon.

Bluey McKenna just said On the Couch that the Suns will be heading to Arizona on the off season.

There is every argument. The advantage is not "massive".

Where have Geelong done their pre-season training for the last few years?

Exactly same with Rocky Balboa, Ivan Drago had the big fancy gym treadmills, steroids and all of the assistants to wipe his backside, while Rocky trained old school lifting carts, running through snow had to use a bunny to wipe his own, he still managed to cut Ivan down to size!

There is definatley an advantage thinking outside the square when it comes to training, swiimmers also go to Arizona to increase their aerobic capacity, we need to be looking at other sports and adapting similar principles in playing and training to make us better. Our game is a mixture of a lot of different sports and traing should reflect that! Tackling (Greco Roman Wrestling, Rugby, Gridiron) Endurance (altidude training) Agility/Jumping (Gymnastics, basketball, volleyball) Gameplans (Soccer, Gridiron, basketball, Lacrosse)

When Tood goes back to his role he needs to in charge of these sorts of things, I am willing to put forward a little extra on the yearly membership to aid this going forth at the club.

The reality is that with free agency coming in high altitude training will be one of the factors players think about when they are deciding to stay with us or to come to us.

We need to do it but can we afford to? If not then we need to able to afford it as soon as possible.

Didn't North Melbourne do some pre-season training at altitude in New Zealand this year?

What's the difference between altitude training in Arizona and NZ? (other than the cost)!

They definately went to Utah..

We should go to Bright...

I think the players chipped in about $5k each as well.

Perhaps we should look closer to home and do what the Hawks did by walking the Kokoda Trail, that should sort the men from the boys and the Hawks believe it was a great team bonding experience.

I did that afew years back Robbief and if that does not bond you nothing will.

Hardest thing I have ever done.

I now know my father was a lot tougher than I thought.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
