Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Gone. Sad that it had to come to this but someone had to take responsibility. You cant sack an entire playing group so Dean had to take the blame and therefore get the sack.

I was one of the biggest supporters on here for Bailey to get the sack and i believe this could be a big turning point for our club in many ways.... however in saying that i think we should acknowledge Deans efforts over the past 4 years in mentoring some of our young players and i sincerely wish him all the best for his future endeavours in coaching and in life. Good Luck Buddy

Hang your heads in shame MFC players..

Agreed.

A man with two young kids is out of a job tonight and has been humiliated because of how our players went about their job yesterday.

It is a sad day for the club.

I don't think Bailey deserved this sort of ending, although I agree that he had to go. He deserved to leave at the end of the year, with some respect.

Regardless of whether or not he is a good coach, he did a lot right for us and was willing to put his own ego and coaching record for the good of our list.

Thanks for all of your hard work Dean and good luck in the future.

You leave our list in a far far better state than you found it, that's for sure!

bye bye scully....

Trudders I am tired of this whole saga. ( I have said this elsewhere but here goes again )

TS is a second year player, he has ability but he has hardly played this year.

He has what is quite obviously a serious and may be career affecting injury.

On top of that he has limitations eg. is only an average kick.

IMO he is worth a reasonable contract not an over the top contract.

Give him a good deal and if GWS is better then good luck Tom.

We will have his salary plus 1 or more draft picks to use in the next couple of years.

Enough of the friction this is causing.

bit disappointed in the club actually. At least make the decision at the end of the year, Not a day after the game.

I disagree, if he's going, do it now, don't want a lame duck dead man walking coach.

This Geelong debacle was the straw that broke the camels back and consigned Dean Bailey into history.

I hear you but what's the alternative? Go behind his back and interview candidates during the last 4 rounds? We need to plan 2012 ASAP. The head hunting starts now and not behind the coaches back.

The clubs [censored] off, supporters are [censored] off, the players we think are [censored] off, the only thing left is to get a coach that could be [censored] off at the end of September. Malthouse or Eade. There is no other choice

Nah - don't agree with the decision. Once again the easy option taken. Not sure of the inner working and problems but unsure about Cam as well. I've seen too many times that over reactions don't solve the problems. I just have to have faith in Jimmy and the others to do the right thing now. Their record is fantastic so I hope they don't blow it this time... We need to build a great team and club!

It has become a common trend that when people are sent off from the MFC the last game they play is a loss. How bitter the taste that would be left in deans mouth 186 is unforgivable for all involved.

Take note playing group

right desicion made, but gee i feel for him, the "leaders" he had at his disposal are possibly the worst lot ever

He had Junior last year!! now I'm not saying he would have made a big difference but he was a very good leader and certainly had another year in him to get our younger players further along the track of development and guidance

Thanks for your efforts Dean.

I have no doubt that you did your utmost for the club we all love.

Could we not have given him the option to stand down tomorrow? Or would he not have done so.

Very, very true.

Now, its the players who need to be hauled over the coals for the rest of the week for what happened yesterday.

They need to feel shocking for how the performed yesterday - I know I do!!

They brought the club and the jumper down yesterday. They have to change that. ASAP!!.

Again, we are the laughing stock of the AFL. This has to change!

Players have to feel the brunt now - no place to hide..

i was referring to the "leaders" he had at his dispossal this year

it was this years lot, not previous years, that made the board have to come to this decision

I feel sorry for him but he had to go.

The players, in particular the senior 'leaders', should hang their heads in shame tonight.

This is only the beginning of the clean-out.

No-one is safe.

Agree. Quality posts of late RR.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
