Is Coniglio the one who was considering boycotting the draft to avoid GWS? Also thought the younger Maric might be up there.

Aside from that this is ridiculous, must be a Port supporter.

Taylor Adams from the falcons will be a player.

I've not seen young Jack Viney play, but Tay Adams plays like I expect him to from the reports.

Was a favourite of Nathan Buckley when he was coach of U/16 Vic Country a couple of years ago.

#18 Melbourne - Matthew Jacquier (Forward - Woodville)

That's thinking outside the box. Instead of another Jack, let's get a Jacquier.

Very interesting to note the differences in height regarding the AFL exposure on Matthew Jacquier (Forward - Woodville). If you google him it shows him as

Height: 175cm

Weight: 78kg

DOB: 29/3/93

Recruited from: Woodville/West Torrens (SA)

yet the NAB AFL UNDER 18 Championship brochure shows him at 188 cms & 83 kg.

If he has grown lately from 175 cms to 188 cms- who knows what he will grow to- 201 cms tall;?

I hear he is a talent, but if he doesn't grow we will have too many of the same type. We need talls- 194 cms upwards.

Do we ?

Considering we drafted Cook, Davis, MacDonald, Howe last draft, is there a need to replenish talls ?

I'm open to best available player. Again.

Here we go....

I'm with you this year ... "best available". However, last year I would have said the opposite. IMHO ...

Horses for courses, draft for draft it requires different strategies.

Ask that bloke for me what he does for a living, fair dinkum!

How funny would it be if not one of those players went to the respective club as seen in the 'phantom draft'?

The mock draft was posted  before last week's final round of championship matches but I would happily take Toby Greene with that pick at this stage. It also seems that we can't seem to shake off Jaquier.

That's not all, Knightmare also has put together a mock draft first round for 2012 (posted on draftcentral) where he or she correctly nominates Melbourne's first draft pick (although not necessarily in correct position):-

Wow you blokes are unreal with this stuff and your knowledge of the youngsters. Thanks for at least giving us an indication of how things may pan out......

FWIW, best available this year especially with our first pick, perhaps with the disclaimer that if it is pretty much 50/50 between a couple of players as we get to our subsequent picks, lean towards the pacy small forward type who can kick goals.

The small pacy crumbing forward with goal sense (a la Sidebottom, Milne, Stokes, Betts etc) is probably the next biggest hole in our list at the moment with Wonna an unknown quantity and no-one else stepping up into the role.

I agree. We should be targetting a couple of crumbers. It is the biggest gap in our future 22.

Why does it say, "Why:" at the end of each player, yet none have a reason? Have I missed something?

I think he plans to update it.

And another Chris Yarran in 2012?

If Toby Greene dropped down to us I would be very very very surprised. But also VERY VERY VERY happy, loved his game the other night, also destroyed Xavier College singlehandedly round 1 of the APS this year, kicked 4 last quarter goals with two of Xavier's best running with him. Gun, and a clutch king.

Addam Maric says hello.

What about Aaron Davey saying hello toooo ... plus you have the option of quality time in the middle.

Addam Maric says hello.

Addam Maric has had more than ample time to prove himself in this regard, be it at Casey or Melbourne. He is not your classic opportunist goalsneak which is what i was referring too. He is a flanker and accumulator.

What about Aaron Davey saying hello toooo ... plus you have the option of quality time in the middle.

What you missed is we are not looking for someone who can spend time in the midfield, surely looking at our list you can sede that we have an abundance of blokes who can do that- straight off the top, two blokes who have yet to even make it into the middle are Grimes and Tapscott.

I am talking about a genuine goalsneak who can sit at the feet of Jurrah, Watts, Green, Cook (hopefully) and others and snag a couple each game. That is what we sorely miss at this point in time. Real small man danger in the forward line.

I am more than happy for Melbourne to become a little speculative with later picks on this type of player because of the clever strategy we have adopted through previous drafts in filling the need for mids and talls.

If thats your and the club's view then thats fine but I don't share it. The delisting process should however become a tad easier already having having 9 180cm or under players on the list. I would be happy with this. I see the area we need bolstering relating to being too small and too easily brushed aside. I would like several hard running types a long the lines of Cooney, Griffin, Birchall . All around 190+ .Looking at the top sides they look a lot bigger than us all over the ground.

One of my mates is listed there, only started footy 2 years ago. A bit Morton-esque in phyisique atm, except he will fill out. He's on my basketball team, but was told by his footy club that being drafted to an AFL side was more of a priority than winning the Sunday night C Grade Championship.

Doesnt matter. We did it without him anyway.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag
