Still not convinced about this bloke but happy with efforts of 'some 'players despite it all.

If I had to describe my view in 16 words this would be it.

Especially the quotation marks around the 'some.'

Let me hazard a guess, BB59 - you are happiest with the efforts of the kids?

I harp on this quite a bit, but if Bailey goes - we still have our 'senior' players to deal with.

This is what frustrates me - I don't know if Bailey should stay, as with everyone.

But I don't think there are enough fans (or those at the club) questioning what to do with our 'leaders.'

At this point in time, I would spill the entire the leadership group and look to trade anyone that has a problem with it.

Actually whilst Essendon has lost and won this year, they havent done it in the Yo Yo manner we have.. weve been up down up down all over the placce.. theres been a lot more consistency with the James' boys.

Yeah..the Bulldogs did magnificently against GC ..ooh yeah.. real form there !! ( not ).. Again tAdelaide.. by a whopping 30 points...only a kick at 3/4 time...against them !! lol

And ah.. Bulldogs have only won 3 ...thats 3 ...in a row.. lets not worry over actuality hey !!

Not being able to win at Etihad is in all essence deplorable. There really ISNT anexcuse. Its not good saying..oh..its just because we cant. What sort of abject loser mentality is that. Its just another bloody football ground. Good teams will win anywhere. Good coaches figure out how to. Do you think Mick would wear that sort of rubbish. ?

Green, Mahoney, Rivers, Davey, Jones and /or Grimes.

Let's face it Green has had the poorest year nearly in his whole career,

Mahoney has been an exceptionable leader.

Rivers- very servicable

Davey- poor year and injury prone

Jones- consistant and stood up to be counted.

Grimes- injury prone.

Therefore, please explain?

Or maybe the cure maybe to go out and find leaders whom want to play for us.Re like a Luke Ball type whom wants to set an example for this club.

I'll say this.

It doesn't matter in the end what anyone on this board thinks.

If he gets re-appointed he will have convinced the MFC Board that he is the right man. And thus I will be satisfied that informed, well credentialed people will re-appoint him. After all they get paid to know the game where as I am just a supporter who pays his money to watch them play.

If he is let go at seasons end, maybe the Board share the thoughts of some people on this site (i.e. they are not 100% convinced he is the man for the job).

So while we can all speculate (and some people get on their high horse and belittle other supporters opinions and theories that the coaching may play some part as to why the MFC seem to play up - down, inconsistent at times uncompetitive football) time will tell whose opinion is closer to that of "football experts" charged with the ultimate responsibility.

Until then I pledge not to make comment on coaches.

There's also a consistent thread with both the Dogs loss, the Saints loss and North loss - all at Etihad. No idea why but clearly we struggle adjusting our gameplan there. Maybe the players don't like the away changing rooms or the wind blowing off the bay at Docklands messes up their hair? Who knows, but it's definitely a pattern.

This is a job of the FD and coaches to eradicate this from the Players mindset.....I don't care what the excuses are...The MFC seem to be the only victorian side that is scared sh!tless whenever we run on to the Etihad Turf.

We seem to play the same way there every time. Should Bailey go?? No not yet, but last friday sure as hell did not strengthen his cause.

Mahoney is the Forward coach.

Moloney is the one with an 'exceptional' year.

Green, Rivers, and Davey display awful body language and are consumate frontrunners.

Moloney has been fantastic when we are up and about but there is still a distance between his worst and his best.

Jones has been very consistent this year. And Grimes has been injured.

So, as leaders, I give these 'marks' for our leadership group in 2011:

Green - D (When the chips are down: he slinks away, doesn't talk, and shows awful body language. Is instructed where to go rather instructed)

Moloney - B+ (Sets a good example when we are winning, and does the captains job of revving up the boys before a game)

Davey - D (May work well with the younger ones but his body language is similar to Green's and there is no urging on of his teammates. Also instructed where to go)

Jones - B (The Twitterer shows decent body language and always plays with heart. Consistent in good times and bad)

Rivers - C (Is a good backman and is fearless and selfless but again, his body language isn't great when we are losing)

Grimes - N/A (only played a handful of games, not enough to judge his onfield leadership in 2011)

So a D, B+, D, B, C, and N/A is a pathetic return for a group of leaders who have been upstaged by Watts, Martin, Trengove, and Frawley, and their consistent efforts, communication, and body language onfield.

What our club has been able to acheive off field has been amazing, tkae a look at our sponsers for 2011 I have never seen so many at our club, our membership sets another record, . The adminstration with the assistance of the media has been able to create a huge positive hype about our club. To continue this forward momentum the club may be forced to change the coach on commercial reasons. You imagine if we could land a Malthouse, Roos or Clarkson, we would smash through the 40,000 membership mark and would create more positive hype for our club. AFL is a business and sometimes you have to do what is best for your business.

We, on the site , watch from afar. We have little to no insight into the inner machinations of Baileys coaching.

We see the end result - we see the 100 minutes a week.

The people making the decisions - or having input - see the end result but also see training - see the coach working with players - see how they respond - have detailed feedback from the coach behind closed doors that ( i would hope) is not sugar coated as it must be for the media.

BTR - I am with you - I just dont know - but I agree that people better credentialled than us on this site and the media will make a decision that I will live with - and i am positive they are better informed than we are.

I'm with you on this regarding our leaders. It's been an issue for me all season, we lack leadership (ref: leadership lacking thread; non-negotiables thread) the majority of the time, and certain blokes will only stand up after the blowtorch has been applied. Then back into the dormant shell.

It's the elephant in the room - the leadership group needs a shake-up. The club needs to encourage the younger one's to step up and the senior guys; the one's that want to, can support them.

There will be a dramatic shift in the coming offseason.

Our high draft picks with good leadership will be comfortable enough at AFL level to demand those roles.

As with anything club-related, our supporters have expected it come a lot quicker than is reasonable.

The club is partially at fault - they have pretended (maybe hoped) the current leadership could do the trick until the baton was passed, in the knowledge that what we had in place was largely insufficient.

All in the name of promoting the club, and demolishing the debt.

Somehow along the way we have forgotten what we knew (well, most of us) around the time of the beginning of the rebuild - we will not be in real contention until pretty much the entire list has been replaced, and the kids we have drafted recently have developed to be the ones in the drivers seat.

Patience, fellow demons.

If we don't have that, we have nothing.

Im not dead set against Bailey, Im not ocnvinced hes our man either. You however wont hear a word againsthim and seem oblivious to shortcomings of this coaching regime.

Completely disagree on your first point.

I think Leading Teams methods are very good for finding real leadership within the playing group.

Our problem is that we've had none to find.

Those that have had the best leadership qualities have been too young to be put out the front, but soon they'll be ready.

I'm an advocate for what rpfc has been proposing for some time now, and I think that rather soon the Leading Teams model will see it come to fruition sooner than most think.

We could see a bloke like Grimes voted captain as soon as next year.

I agree EGD, Frank Grimes has shown some glimpses, but he is way off the captain or legend status yet.

Let's see him play game breakers against good teams before he is rated long term.

Yes, he could be a 10 game a year player Frank....Hopefully around September...But i agree, every game he plays is a bonus. Not unlike Matty Whelan, who was far to injury prone.

If you paid attention, or had any idea whatsoever, you'd recognise that I also am not deadset against Bailey, nor am I convinced he's the man for the job.

But you're the one trying to tell me what my point of view is.

I merely pointed out how every one of your ill-considered points was wrong.

I'm willing to listen to decent constructive arguments, but your problem is that you present none, and then when called on it you attack and talk gibberish until others get bored.
