Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Fair dinkum. Why do so many here wake up in the morning, see grey skies and feel so down with no positive outlook?

Have faith in your club to make the right moves in the best interests of it's members/supporters.

We'll fight tooth and nail to keep our best players.

It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder.

I suggest some UV light therapy.

i can just see melbourne rolling over and giving the old cliche 'oh, well tom is a great player but he is only 1 player and no 1 player is greater than the culture that we have developed at melbourne. We will move forward and seek to grab a star player with pick 17'. Such a thing bailey would say

Only you could get angry at Bailey for something he said that is only contained in your 'head movies.'

No prizes for guessing what Jon Ralph was told to do by his boss.

"Ralphy, Melbourne have a tough run of games coming up against Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood and they are all in primetimeso everyone will see it. We need you to write some destabilising articles in the lead up so that we can run the 'Dees in crisis, sack Bailey' story for acouple of weeks."

The problem is that Ralph's articles have been so poor that it hasn't made any impact yet. But I can guarantee that the papers will follow this line because that's the way the footy media works. Especially in a low level tabloid like the Herald Sun.

So the broadcast deal has now been done. Yet we are not hearing that Scully has started negotiations with the club. The excuse that he will wait until the end of the season, backing himself to show outstanding form to up his value is wearing thin as in reality Scully will get a monster contract for his age, his form this season will now make little difference to his perceived value and next contract. This is starting to undermine the club.

We all know that all that is required is for Scully or his manager to come out and say. "Tom wishes to continue his career with the MFC, subject to contract agreement." or something along these lines. Yet this is not happening.

Personally I don't believe that GWS has not approach Tom or his manager. Of course they would have. At the very least they would have made an inquiry. The club is clearly very concerned that Tom is going otherwise they would not have put Stynes in to try and get an answer. Tom gave the line he has been told to by him manager. "No I have not been approached". It is a lie and means nothing.

The evidence that Tom is leaving is becoming compelling. I think it is time we accepted this. It pains me to say this but looking at the evidence it would seem he is gone.

Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is what you are thinking of. Might want to edit.

They are waiting for the CBA which is the wash up of the TV rights so the above is not correct.

He has said that he wants to stay at MFC!

Perhaps, but overall your post is as loose as a goose.

when does the collective baragining agreement get finalised anyway? I thought i heard that it wouldnt be done in time for contract end date anyway?

It's been in the news recently, the AFL Players Association wants a greater share of the 1.25 billion.

It's more a case of starting negotiations than 'finalising' negotiations...

The current CBA will run for a period of five years between 1 November 2006 until 31 October 2011. The agreement will continue to apply after this date until a new agreement is struck between the AFL and the AFLPA. However if both the AFL and AFLPA cannot negotiate a new agreement by 30 June 2011 or a later agreed date, either party may give 30 days notice to terminate the existing agreement provided this notice doesn’t take effect before 1 November 2011.

I just assume he'll go. GWS can see what we're building and that old [censored] Sheedy would love nothing more than hurting us. I think Scully is one of the main targets and the offer will be to big to refuse. Hopefully I'm wrong but if I'm not it won't be the end of the world. Ablett left Geelong and they haven't dropped a game.

Yep. He would also rejoice in helping his 'Old' club, hit back into the Big time... And Sculls is a diehard Tiger. Geez, I hope I'm all wrong about this, but one has to trust in their 'gut' felling.

I hope the playing group, can convince one another, to stick together.

So Sheedy, the coach of the new AFL side in Sydney is conspiring to get Scully to Richmond, a team he has had no involvement with for 30 years????

I want what you’re on.

After all the discussion on this. The club may not have a choice if Scully has already signed with GWS. And if the $$$$ stated are right then how can MFC match the offer? I have no doubt MFC are doing all in its power to secure Scully and I hope they do. But your claim of "negligence" is naive of the situation that MFC/Scully is in.

He hasn't signed with GWS. He is the one player on our list who has the potential to be truly elite. The club must retain him. If it doesn't I stand by my call that it's negligent by 1. Not providing an attractive enough offer and/or 2. Not providing an attractive enough workplace to be able to lose a player of Scully's ability to shitsville.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
