I believe after this round and the leadership he showed on the field, it is time recognise his performance with the recognition to give his Vice captaincy back.Who agrees?

I agree he should be VC, but I don't think he should have lost it in the first place.

However, to answer your thread, he will not get the VC back this season or it turns the penalty he recieved into a joke. Losing your VC for 3 weeks isn't a penalty and the media would laugh at us.

Reinstate Beamer, stuff what the media say...The Leadership group needs him in there every day.

19 clearences...we need that to happen at Etihad stadium & not just the MCG

No don't agree, playing fine ATM look at it midseason maybe

Also I thought our captain had a good game today,

But I really thought he could have passed off the ball

to bate in the last quarter when he ran into open goal,

Bate had a shocker needs a confidence booster and 2

Goals in a poor game might done him good.

Sorry JCB, but the side needs to know were serious about discipline. IMO, he'll need to spend at least till Rnd 16 at least,,, to prove his worthiness, (OFF-field)...

But I love the guy. He's the Spiirit were lacking onfield.

Greeny is just playing this Year like a soccer player. He's not going in & putting his body to the wheel. One sacrificial act today stood out for me, after most of the game was dusted. That smother. And the selfishness in the goalsquare @ the End was un-captain like.

Love the bloke, had another fantastic game today, but he will lead regardless of title. That is just what he does. I believe that they need to let the punishment stick so that it sets the bar. If they turn around and give it back to him already then it makes a mockery of the punishment. He will be back there, he will deserve it and we will love him for it. Maybe not this year, but definitely next. And i can't wait.

No doubt he has been told he is still a key member of the leadership group, and to all intetnts and purposes he we will be playing the part of a VC. I reckon they will give it back about round 18 or so.

Yep, definitely. Reinstate him immediately. Should not have lost it in the first place.

He plays like a man possessed for the Demons, and that sets the tone as a leader of the club.

I said the exact same thing. It would've been the classic 'joe the goose', but 2 goals on the stats sheet looks better than one, and would provide some much needed confidence for Bater, a talented player at the crossroads of his career and struggling for a spot in the regular 22 after being an automatic selection for many years. End of the day, doesn't really make a difference, but i thought the exact same thing at the time.

Can't, even if we wanted to. Sends the wrong message.

He's doing just fine as is. He knows his role. He can stil be a leader without the VC, and that can be something he works towards next year. His carrot and stick situation.

No, well not officially anyway.

I don't think anyone doubts he'll be back in the leadership group next year, so for now, let's just let him let his footy do the talking for the rest of the year, accept his punishment humbly, and get him back in there for 2012. He's playing career-best footy, all whilst trying to "earn back the trust of his teammates and coaches" and as such, is playing with a "point to prove". Giving him his VC back takes away that added incentive to push himself that extra bit further, which he has since his demotion.

Official vice capt or not, we all know he's a real leader among the playing list.

My thoughts as well.....guess it was just the pressure hes been under and the spur of the moment...Bate certainly wasnt smiling.

No. The message that would send is "you were a very naughty by and that behaviour is totally unacceptable! Until you play well next week, then it's fine". The club set a clear standard for off-field behaviour - revoking Moloney's punishment is revoking the standard.

Agreed, statements must be made. Fevola played a lot of great footy too but a permissive culture severely damaged one club and put another back five years. St Kilda.....

I love Beamer and his form is outstanding, but it wasn't his form that was in question. He needs to do some contrition and let some time pass to get his title back.

He is leading on the field like no other. It will happen soon enough, because he is really the guy who lifts when we need it.

The leadership group will come around soon enough.

Shouldn't have lost it in the first place, also it was such a [censored] ant effort on behalf of the club to remove his image from the club website alongside Green, Davey etc.

That being said Moloney doesn't need to be apart of the leadership group to lead anyway, its clear to anyone watching that we have a Sam Mitchell/Luke Hodge situation going on.

Being in the "leadership group" isn't the only way you can be a leader - and Beamer is proving that. Ironically, it's essentially why you get put in the leadership group in the first place.

No

End of the season decision IMO

Whatever you do. Don't change a thing.

Shouldn't have lost it .

Shouldn't have trotted him out infront of the media .

But whats done is done and wait till next year to hand it back ... if he wants it .

This new age leadership stuff is a joke anyway, the players know who the leaders are, I'm sure they know who to look up to, can't say Davey or Green have been inspirational but it doesn't matter. Beamer is a natural leader anyway

I think Green deserves some credit today... has taken him this long but today he lead from the moment they ran through the banner

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
