These 25 players together form a large % of our clubs list. What do all these players have in common ?

All play for the dee's...

All out of contract either this year or next? All potential GWS targets?

All will be premiership players in 2014?

C'mon, the comedy festival is struggling as it is.....

Many Melbournefc supporters have grown increasingly frustrated with the level of performance shown to date (many here were clearly frustrated during the “practice games”). So, other than our 13 senior players who have played more than 50, yes – just thirteen, that the lack of experience (as shown below) and miniscule amount of games played (even played together) is quite relevant within reason for our inconsistent performances and where the club is at. 2011 is about further development. In many ways, 2012 will arguably be the same for the likes of Cook, Blease, Howe, Davis, McDonald, Strauss, Fitzpatrick, Gawn, Spencer. (Gawn, Fitzpatrick & Spencer have a few years to develop).

How do the 25 players mentioned with 50 or less games experience*, look as a side ? (Number of games are in brackets).

BACKS: Strauss (2) Martin (32) Bail (13)

H-BACKS: Grimes (29) Garland (43) Blease (0)

CENTRES: Bennell (38) Gysberts (4) Scully (21)

H-FWDS: Morton (51*) Cook (0) Trengove (21)

FWDS: Wonaeamirri (27) Jurrah (20) Watts (21)

FOLL: Spencer (8) Tapscott (3) McKenzie (22)

Pine: Petterd (37), Maric (14), Howe (0), Jetta (23)

Emerg: Gawn (0), McDonald (0), Davis (0)

* I made an exception for Morton. He had played 50 games prior to Sunday v Brisbane at the G, but was given the green top (sub). Technically 51 games, but given his output (or lack thereof), I reserve the right to refer to his games tally as 50, therefore including him in this exercise of senior listed players with 50 games or less.

Using Brereton's model on player analysis and player performance (ie. at their peak), he has previously stated numerous times that once a player gets to around between 70-150 games in experience, and when you get a large core group of players in that vicinity having played many many games together, that is when you more than likely see consistent results. Furthermore, if those players are well drilled and well coached, you often have very good, consistent results.

Clearly, it is stating the obvious really. But it doesn't hurt to drum it in.

Got a bit sick of the commentators droning on about Brisbane's lack of experience, while never mentioning Melbourne similar circus-pants.

I have to sort of slap myself into reality that Petterd, Garland, Wona, Grimes and Martin have all played so few games - havent they been around for ever. Yes - all affected by injury but they havent play many games have they. ( you don't get experience and game time sitting in the stands - no matter how long you have been around for)
