I know you shouldn't make light of the situation, but just look at the influence a new player(ex-Blues, ex Lions) in the ranks has made already on the leadership group

I think a few Carltons were involved but I haven't heard that Fev was with him, nor pulling his zipper down...

Or his disappointment at being overlooked for the captaincy is a part of whats caused him, to do this.

Somethings going on, thats unsettling him. We don't know what that is. Only that this sounds way out of charachter for Beamer.

If he has gone on a bender on the back of not being made captain, then it simply reinforces why he shouldn't have been made captain in the first place.

From the reaction of the club to date, it's a genuine shock.

Regardless of his personal situation, this kind of thing is just pathetic.

Surely with all the leading teams training, mentors, other players in the leadership group, coaching staff, former players, president, family etc etc if he had a problem, he would have someone to speak to about it.

Getting blind and taking a leak on a bar isn't showing a whole lot of leadership, or initiative is it.

Out of the leadership group.......wow!

Admitted he has a problem with binge drinking, and will be seeking help through the AFLPA.

Is available for selection this week..........behaivour will be under the microscope going forward.

He was out late, so what? Players are not allowed out late?

Peeing on/in a bar is not acceptable at all but gee wizz lets not go overboard!

No players are not allowed out late before a recovery session (not the way to prepare). Players are not allowed to get themselves legless and pee on a bar.

Sends a very strong message.

Very harsh penalty and well done to the leadership group for setting a standard.

It might if you were the one cleaning it up, or watching him doing the urinating inside a venue.

I've seen worse.

I've had someone [censored] on my leg in a bar in greece.

Anyway, the decision is what I have a problem with, it's a really poor one, and it's a direct result of his extreme intoxication, which is my point of contention.

Mind you, I'd be more concerned if he'd decided to do it stone cold sober!

No, this is the ruling.......they were the key points I took from the press conference I just listened to on SEN.

The SEN iphone app is gold for the office!!!!

In addition to this, Schwab said the urination on the bar did not occur, and only that he was intoxicated.

I have a feeling that the binge drinking bit was more a push from the club as he didn't really own up to that but more said it after being prompted...

Well done to the club for taking a hardline as there is nothing worse than not trusting your team mates (Sylvia a couple of years ago)

Said that he was out for dinner (with who it was not said)and had too many drinks....

at the end of the day its his word against the bloke who called into the radio. He may well have [censored] on the bar, he might not remember alot from last night!

I think the penalty is fair. Glad he's still available for selection though. I'm sure being stripped of the VC will only spur him on to trying to make amends on the field. watch out Suns!!! :lol:

I imagine you're talking about the Dutch killings, and if that's the case I take it that you think geography is irrelevant - it's big news regardless of whether it happened in Melbourne/Aus.

If that's the case, why is that murder worthy of higher billing than the countless people dying in 'the third world' (including countries closer to us than the Netherlands) every day? How about those dying in a war we're actually involved in?

Anyhow, this isn't a thread about media analysis so perhaps we should leave it there :)

You wont often catch me defending the media but I wouldn't call it the media's fault.

At the end of the day, we lap this sorta crap up, the media pretty much give us what we want, if they dont they go broke.

Precisely what is news worthy became blurred when People Magazine was launched as a spin off from Time. It now easily outsells Time and has effectively propped up an ailing Time magazine. Fast forward almost 40 years and we have nine "news" crossing live to the Judd Twigley wedding three times in one bulletin.

If Moloney was dishonest today when asked about it, or failed to demonstrate that he was remorseful or made an error of judgment, then I agree with the decision. If he urinated as suggested, then again, I agree. But if he was drunk in public and out too late then asked to leave and nothing more, I think this decision is overkill and really reeks of fake ruthlessness. I think you can still be a nominated leader despite a mistake. Neitz made one too, remember?

Leadership requires you to set standards for the group on and off the field.

He didn't meet those standards.

I think he will in the future.

Beamer is a straight forward bloke and it appears he hasn't shirked this issue which is a good sign for the future.

He will be back in the leadership group in time.
