Gysberts has played 4 games..so he can be nominated for Nab Rising star even though he was nominated last year...

One young player is nominated for the award after each round of home-and-away matches, with a panel of experts choosing the winner at the end of the season. To qualify for the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination, a player must be under 21 years of age as at January 1 of that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season and must not have been suspended by the AFL or State League tribunals during the season.

I think I would prefer if Tapscott got this weeks rising star 3 good games to start his career

Tapscott deserves it more for his efforts in the 3 games he has played. But I think Gys shaded him this week. Either way, we could get one this week. Polec was good today for Brisbane, but surely he wont get it yet. Not too sure who has stood up in the other games.

Wouldnt be surprised if Libba gets it. Was quieter than usual, but is ahead of Tapscott in the line I think.

Tapscott was strong over the ball again but not Rising Star worthy. Gys is a freaking star whether he gets a trophy for it or not, he might well be the best of all our future mids.

His two contenders are Savage and Duncan.

Gysberts - 25 disposals (11 contested), 4 marks, 5 tackles, 1 goal, 129 SC points

Savage - 20 disposals, 4 tackles, 2 goals, 3 frees for, 121 SC points

Duncan - 24 disposals, 9 marks, 3 tackles, 2 goals, 90 SC points

I love Gysberts. Footy nous and he has a go.

I was watching him today and felt sorry for the bugger that he ended up playing with such a soft side.

This statement encapsulates why it is a crap award. Some sort of 'line' that commentators dream up about who is most deserving and who therefore should be nominated.

Gysberts is the perfect reason we need to promote the guys performing at Casey and drop those that are under performing.

He had a good game today.

totally agree with what someone else said earlier in this thread. Gysberts performance today shows exactly why if guys arent performing and putting in they should be dropped and young players brought in. Great game GYS

Indeed.

A natural contested ball winner who is strong overhead and drifts forward to kick goals. Was easily our best mid today.

I was dreaming today of Gysberts and Scully together in the centre and at ball ups/throws around the ground.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
