THE "PINK" JUMPERS

DemonsHQ

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Given there has been lots of discussion about the colour of the guernseys we wore in Friday night's NAB Cup game, we thought it was best to clarify the situation.

The jumpers we played in on Friday night are not the correct colour. They have been produced in error and will be fixed.

The intention of the new jumper was to get the red to a deeper, blood like, red.

We have experienced a number of teething problems with our new apparel partner New Balance which have been very frustrating but we are continuing to work through the issues because we believe the range, when it is produced correctly, is outstanding and that New Balance will be a great partner in the long term.

The original jumpers that the Club received prior to Christmas, for retail, had some colour imperfections in the emblem and the stars but were the correct red. New Balance recalled these jumpers on our request, to fix the stars and the emblem. New Balance then tried to reproduce the jumpers correctly in time for the intra club and Nab Cup games. Whilst they did fix the emblem and star imperfections, the new delivery were now an incorrect red and looked very pink.

New Balance are now remaking the jumpers for the third time, in time for Round 1, in the correct red.

The playing jumpers have sublimated numbers, GPS pockets and are a slightly different cut and fabric to retail jumpers so we can't wear the original retail jumpers (which are the correct red) on the field.

Due to the delivery times (the jumpers are made in China and have been further delayed by Chinese New Year) we will be wearing the jumpers with the incorrect red for the remainder of the Nab Cup matches. The red is incorrect on both the home and clash jumpers but arguably more noticeable on the clash.

The Club is acutely aware of the significance and importance of the Jumper to our game. We are bitterly disappointed to have to wear these jumpers for NAB Cup and that we are doing all we can to rectify the situation for Round 1.

Firstly HQ thankyou and the club for keeping us informed. We appreciate it greatly.

It's commendable that the club knows what it wants and is working towards it relentlessly.

Truly lamentable that NB stuffed up but let's hope all goes well for a good whiles yet :)

Thanks again and go Dees

Keep your eyes on the RED and the Blue ;)

Thank you for the update. I am glad to hear that the jumpers will be fixed by round 1.

Thanks for the update.

But what the heck is a "sublimated number"? Is it something sexual or nobler and purer??

The jumpers are produced via a digital textile couring process that utilises dye sublimation techniques. I can only infer that it's meant the numbers( and all else , logos etc ) are printed too . So there's no generic guernsey which they could use in place.

Don't get me wrong I love my Dim Sum, San Choi Bow, Satay Beef Skewers, Cantonese Beef Steak & Lemon Chicken during CNY , but.... CNY causing delays...how long do they put off work for ? :)

Thanks for the update DemonHQ, it hasn't held back the boys performance. The jumpers will arrive soon enough.

Gotcha. So pre-printed numbers (using dye sublimation printing techniques).

Thought it might have been something high-tech to protect the players from Aint-syndrome

As I think I've said before, many factories close for over a month over CNY and some don't get many of their workers back when they reopen. Often the factories I deal with lose many workers during this period as well. It's a terrible time for production mistakes to occur.

But mistakes happen all the time especially with complicated production runs.

Hopefully they sort it out asap but now people can stop whinging at the club because clearly it's out of their hands.

It's not a whinge for the sake of it. It's a legitimate concern that we as members of the club are entitled to voice. The club is eminently aware of this and add it to their own dissatisfaction. Nothing wrong nor unwarranted by that.

Great to know the issue is being looked after and we won't have to watch our boys play in pink...especially if the umps are too!

I was going to mention that earlier. Anyone notice on Friday night the umps were in red ? Adel v Melb (red & red (or pink...) !

Come on AFL!

And A.Anderson said it wouldn't happen again....

A word of freindly Warning,,, come, the Pink Lady Game,,, organise the jumpers, well in advance,,, or we may get Deep OX Blood RED,,, instead.

Agree with your sentiments. This should not have happened a second time.Seems that the NB quality assurance team needs to be improved somewhat.

Or given a good kick up the A...!

No doubt the boffins at NB were given a clear direction re what the Club wanted, and how important it was to get it right. To get it THAT wrong after all that, in our day and age, with all the sophisticated technological know-how, you have to just shake your head and wonder!

Anyway, as others have said, a BIG thanks to the Club for taking the time to give us an official explanation.

The Club isn't the only organisation reading this website: http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=107824

How can they possibly insert the comment 'Exclusive to AFL BigPond Network' at the bottom of that article? They should have saved time by excluding all the text, and simply including a link to this website. Well done to the Demonland community - keeping fresh news stories breaking.

I Noticed it too. Both clubs in the first match had red in their jumper - so the umpires wear red???

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
