Good to see Blease, Howe, Strauss and Cook...but no Tapscott?

He needs to get on the park soon

two years with little return will not be good.

I get a faint Tilbrook smell here!

Looks Good but all muscle and not much action.

Hope to god he plays somewhere in the next few weeks.

I'm most looking forward to seeing

Howe - hopefully stand on someones head

Blease- Never seen the kid other than you tube hope to see some of that pace and footskills

Morton- still don't believe he has bulked up

Watts- Obviously

Martin - more so to see what they will do with him and if has improved his skills

Maric- traiing the house down all summer apparently :)

Spencer - If only for his unco kicking style, gets me everytime

Probably a bit early to be writing off his 2nd year in the 2nd week of February...

Liked this from the AFL web site:

"AN UNDER-STRENGTH Melbourne side will kick off round one of the NAB Cup with five of its best 22 sidelined.

Key players James Frawley (pectoral), Michael Newton (broken wrist) and Ricky Petterd (hamstring) are all injured, while Nathan Jones (soreness) and Mathew Warnock will also miss the round-robin clash against Adelaide and Port Adelaide."

Fitzpatrick is injured. He was on crutches on the sidelines at the I/C game.

What's the story with Jones? Is he just being rested?

From the Melbourne website in the article naming the squad

"Tom Scully (knee soreness) has been named in the initial squad, but is under an injury cloud. Robert Campbell (achilles), Jack Fitzpatrick (foot), James Frawley (pectoral muscle), Nathan Jones (back soreness), Jordie McKenzie (groin soreness), Michael Newton (wrist), Ricky Petterd (hamstring) and Matthew Warnock (ankle) will miss through injury."

Geez that's harsh. Tilbrook cost us a fortune and was supposed to be a superstar.

Tapscott's a kid.

ID I don't think I was writing him off.

It is just disappointing that he is not being involved in practise matches etc

after a bad year with injuries.

Lots of good comments about him when he was drafted and so far he has been injured most of the time

since arriving.

I just hope he is not all "looks" and we get to see him play somewhere in the next few weeks.

And he needs to get on the park soon!

Because another year like last year would not be be good for his future.

The competition is littered with players who would have been great if they were not constantly injured.

The injuries have given seven players the opportunity to make their debuts in senior AFL company.

Not all of these players will represent the club on Friday night but a few will:-

Sam Blease, Lucas Cook, Michael Evans, Jeremy Howe, Cameron Johnston, Tom McDonald and Daniel Nicholson.

That's the exciting thing about Friday night. We can worry about injuries when the season starts.

I got a laugh outta this one too Maurie. Juice has arrived...pretty high raps for a rookie.

Is that a sick joke or are you being serious???

no it's true. Shouldn't be seeing him and Frawley til about round 3 but who knows

WJ has nailed it. The NAB cup is all about getting some glimpses of the unknown players and we will have a feast in this regard on Friday

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
