NAB CUP INJURY LIST: ROUND ONE

And so it begins again ... everyone who has followed these pages in the past would know that I have an issue or two with injury lists that aren't ... um ... well ... entirely accurate. According to this, we have 42 players fit and available for Friday night. If that's the case, then Jack Fitzpatrick who was on crutches and had one foot in a moonboot last Friday has recovered from whater he had wrong with him. FWIW, here are the official injury lists of the teams to play this week in Adelaide.

Melbourne

Robbie Campbell (achilles) - 2-3 weeks

James Frawley (pectoral) - 10-12 weeks

Michael Newton (broken wrist) - 6-8 weeks

Ricky Petterd (hamstring/back)— 1-2 weeks

Adelaide

James Craig (hamstring) - TBC

Chris Knights (corked quad) - available

David Mackay (groin) - 3-4 weeks

Andy Otten (ankle) - test

Sam Shaw (back) - 2 weeks

Bernie Vince (knee) - 3 weeks

Yes - especially since it's about two and a half weeks since the original diagnosis of 10 - 12 weeks and the time expected out hasn't changed.

now that i look at the calendar, the time between his injury and rd 1 is 9.5 weeks.. if it is an 8-10 week injury shouldn't that be more than a 'faint chance'?

I tend to agree. I don't think we will see Frawley back for an awful long time. And Scully with knee soreness? :? Must be training too hard. I hope it doesn't become a long term absence for him also.

If you're referring to playing games, the season starts in late March. It also goes right through till September. Not the time of the year to be playing players "at all costs". I don't really see our injury list as being much different to other clubs'. And no real long-term injuries either ... touch wood.

Having both Jones and McKenzie out of the 'guts' isn't ideal, but once again, good chance (especially at this level) to see who might step up, and give some of the younger players a taste.

Bummer about Morton. Presumably he can still train ... and do weights. Can't take a trick!

We should be used to it by now, really....

I'm keen on Tapscott to get fit and firing.

Let's take a step back.

Our core group of KEY players are: Jamar (All-Aus), Frawley (All-Aus), Green, Jurrah, Sylvia, Moloney, Scully, Watts (purely to train up), Rivers (the General down back) and Davey. That's the 10 players I feel we NEED to have out on the park each week. Of those 10, one is missing through injury.

Is Morton a substantial loss??? No - but his longevity is vital for the FUTURE.

Is Fitzpatrick substantial??? No - but we want to give him games.

All those players listed with soreness... Scully, Jones, McKenzie et al... will all be playing Round 1 of the season proper but will bypass some of the pre-season games because that's just what teams do!

Let's take a bit of a breather. We still have a team.
