Exactly.

Jonathan Giles and Jamie Solly are still available too.

Brad Harvey is one of the best players who didnt get drafted so I hope we snare him plus 1 or 2 of the above named.

I stopped pass training on Monday, and a few of these guys where training. The one that impressed me the most was a miny Matt Bate, short red head bloke, worked his arse off alwasy at the front of the group and looked like a hard nut. Does any one know who that would be?

He doesnt play like a hard nut!!

..... Cameron would have loved playing for us the last 5 years in our forward line... "he is one of the best players below his knees in Victoria."

Plenty of fwds have made it in footy being "outside" players. Milne says hi for one.

Footy keeps evolving. The ability to run, kick and be hard at the contest is forever becoming more important to success. Forwards that can not offer a physical contest will become obsolute in time. Its not as if he is under developed physically(this is something to be taken into account when drafting rookies)

What about Max Otten,be good if anything like his brother

190cm HBF type with a really nice short kicking game. Is forever working hard to run forward and create an option for a team mate, unfortunately the reason why he didnt get picked up in the National Draft is because he is an incredibly soft down hill skier.

Coburg can't be that good. That makes 7 on training lists.

Maybe he is just trying to have a kick with Tom. Trying to get in one year before the rest of the team. :)

This from Inside Football's Draft Edition (early November):-

Dan Nicholson, the 19-year-old from Uni Blues, is hot on the lips of AFL recruiters.

The star midfielder is 183cm. smart, agile and boasts enormous upside. Nicholson blossomed into one of the elite VAFA players this year, but his potential shone when the stakes were raised in representative football.

Co-captain of the Under 19 VAFA team, Nicholson torched his VCFL opponents with a best-afield display before shrugging his baby tag and starring in the VAFA's Under 23 clash against Tasmania.

Nicholson trained with Hawthorn in the lead-up to last year's rookie draft and given the Hawks culled 11 players last week he has naturally been linked to the brown and gold.

This about Ben Jakobi off the SMS from Pringle who was on Coburg's staff for the past couple of seasons:-

He's a midfielder. Not quick, moves well, good skills, strong body, usually clever with the ball. Not an inside mid nor particularly an outside mid but good in traffic. Does some classy things in tight spaces. Doesn't dominate.

He previously had some injury problems and a pre season operation causing him to miss the entire pre season and the first few rounds. Gained promotion to the seniors after only a couple of reserves games but only played a few senior games for Coburg so it's hard to comment how he might go.

When he was back in the twos he was pretty good - you could tell he has class but the tank wasn't there.

Richmond hold him in high regard and had been courting him for a while and has done some pre season training with  them.

He has yet to show his full potential but if he remains injury free would be worth putting on the rookie list. Nice guy too. Pretty shy/unassuming.

Also - 19 years old, came from Brighton Grammar and is the son of Old Brighton President Rob Jakobi so the connection is there with Jack Watts and newly appointed Demon Board Member John Trotter who has been involved with Old Brighton Grammarians AFC since 1971.

Two more names for the list.

Ben Jakobi (Coburg)

Daniel Nicholson (Uni Blues)

Played with Ben (1 game) and against Dan Nicholson this year. Was actually opposed to him at various times throughout the game.

Nicholsons a good player - quick, skillful, glides across the turf. Wouldnt surprise me if he was rookie listed somewhere

Remember when we drafted Luke Ottens, on the strength of the fact he was then-Tiger Brad's brother, and thus he may improve? Dont always be fooled by the surname and its magical powers!

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
