Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Gee, the GC are getting some serious talent. David Swallow is the best I've seen for a while.

Would you swap Scully or Trengove for him?

GC are being handed the keys to a very promising team in the next few years. Whoever comes to us at pick #12 must be a player that is going to help us win going forward. We do not have the luxury of stuffing that pick up.

Lynch/Darling could be pick #12 it seems.

No Lynch!

or Darling or Brodie Smith.

Surprising.

I thought that Darling only turned up for the height/weight measurements and interviews. Pretty sure he didn't do any of the physical activities on doctors orders after the beating he took.

Scully says "wat up"?

Scully, as much as I am enamoured with him, will likely not be as good as Swallow.

But it depends on the evolution of the game. Scully's run and agility may become even more damaging.

Hard to say.

Different style of players, but at this stage I'd do a straight up swap in a heartbeat.

This Swallow kid looks like a talent, no doubt, but Scully is everything this kid is and a little more. Scully to reach elite status and win the Brownlow before Swallow for mine.

Really you'd swap? In a heartbeat also?

Swallow is better than Scully (due to scully's poor kicking), but Scully is a gun anyway so who cares.

If we can get Jack Darling it would be huge. He is exactly the type of player our forward line needs. Doesn't matter that he isn't a giant as long as he can bash some packs!

Pfft, Scullys poor kicking..... they go up and under a little but are generally on target and the boy runs flat out when he kicks it. Give it time to refine. Swallow floats them a little also- I can't believe people are saying they'd swap him.

Does Swallow have Scullys endurance or his slick hands?

I have no idea about swallow, but my take on Scully

He will be great, and back to a previous argument better than Trengove (who may be robin to his batman, Pippen to his Jordan etc... this secondary guy can be more important than the primary)

Scully has a "I will do anything, and EVERYTHING to win" mentality.

The difference between really good and great

I don't know if Swallow has this, but that kind of attitude is infectious and the difference between premierships me thinks.

Hird had it, Kouta may not have

Carey had it

Buckley had it, but in a different way to Scully...Buckley wanted to win as the man, rather than be the man in a winning team

Agreed.

Swallow tore it up at VFL level as a 17 year-old and with a smallish body. He's been unbelievable. I think he'd have Scully covered for endurance and slick hands. Hard to tell who has the greater ceiling. We'll soon see I guess.

Are these guys gonna screw with our plans? When would this mobs window be likely to be open? Is it going to conflict with our moment of glory? [censored] why this draft had to be so star studded... I also am still thankful we bottomed out when we did and feel we scraped it by the skin of our teeth.....

How is Gold coasts introduction going to affect teams? Pretty sure there are some bloody juicy prospects in this top 10 that a fair few clubs could have done with.. My Kingdom for a bloody Sam Day i'll tell you what! :(

What ? No young player in recent memory has had Scully covered for endurance and quick hands. The knock on Scully's kicking is overblown. He occasionally makes the wrong decision, but there's nothing wrong with his kicking. It's not laser like, or elite, but the mechanics are fine and he nearly always hits his target, unless he's kicking long to a contest.

I've only seen Swallow once and he looks great. He looks a better finisher than Scully, but I haven't seen enough to make a declaration on who'll be better. I had a query on his pace, but I read elsewhere it's good. Scully's engine, hands, commitment and professionalism will take the midfielders game to new levels, imo.

And Trengove won't be any "Robin". They'll compliment each other, but I see Trengove being just as much a star. These two players have had the best first years at Melb since Gerard Healy in 1979 (other than more mature age recruits). I won't be questioning their ceiling. I've seen enough young talent in my lifetime and I'd be horribly amazed if they don't sit at the top of the tree for midfielders during their career. I wouldn't swap either of them for anyone else in the competition.

And why would anyone in their right mind suggest otherwise.

No one can declare anything out of a group such as Swallow, Scully, Trengove etc etc. From the talent seen they should all be fantastic players and have great careers.

Voss, Hird, Buckley - you think any of their supporters would have swapped one for the other? Not likely and nor will we be sitting back saying that we would do likewise.

Except for a flag for Buckley , those three champions achieved everything in the game possible. Scully, JT and Swallow all have the makings to do the same, for our sake hopefully Skull and JT are at the Voss end of achievements!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
