Just watching the saints/doggies game, It could be said Saints could use a strong body in defence. Maybe they could be interested in Matthew Warnock.

I was thinking that if we were to trade Warnock, he may like the Saints option. Who would we like from them? Rhys Stanley???

Good thought-others may think you are dreaming.

?????????????????????????

Didn't happen quite as I remember it, but the slow-mo does show the ball hitting him in the face as he fumbles it.

Promising prospect is Stanley and considering that the Saints have an over abundance of young talent on their list I'm sure that they'd entertain a trade.

Posted

Good young player but is more of an athletic forward like watts and jurrah. We need to add another dimension to our forward line not more of the same types of players

Ha Ha Ha, funny, but really IMO this kid could be handy.

They have McEvoy coming on & have just given Kosi a two year extension. I think they have another young ruck as well, coming through.

Even if Stanley didn't put enough weight on as a ruck option he cud still be handy as a tall forward OR tal mobile defensive option with his athleticism & running ability. As long as he's a great kick, he's be a serious consideration.

I'm not referring him as that tall power forward that we need, but rather one of our other recruits. We're going to recuit more than one recruit.

There's talent in there, but we've already got Spencer on our list, so our quote of gangly, unco-ordinated giraffes is probably filled at the moment.

Seriously, he will most likely become a good player but I reckon they'll keep him. Kozi can't hold that FF spot forever.

Caught my eye a few times this year. I'll admit I haven't seen alot of him but what I did see looked promising. At least worth an enquiry in trade week. Looks to be one who will fill out and one who can contest and provide a target up forward.

They could look at someone like Warnock. Whether they rate Dawson ahead of Warnock...?

He'll play more like Kurt Tippett. Spend the majority in the forward line and short stints in the ruck.

He is lightning quick. He's skinny but will fill out. Like him.

Warnock for Stanley. Hell yes. do the deal tomorrow.

Warnock is two times the player of Dawson but Saints probably rate Stanley highly too.

Maybe if Zac gets absolutely torched by Cloke, Saints lose by a kick, they might pay overs for a FB.

Rhys Stanley or Daniel Stewart please.

The kid has talent, though he is a long term prospect. But if StKilda rate him highly, it will not be easy to get him. This makes it a very high risk, potentially high reward trade, since it will cost us a bit.

He seems like the kind of long term prospect that we should try to draft ourselves- a 200cm super agile athlete. we drafted one like that only last year in Jack Fitzpatrick, maybe another shot at a similar type of player would be on the cards.

That would cost us much less that trading for Rys Stanley, and there are no guarantees Stanley will become a great player, any more than Fitzpatrick

St Kilda must rate him because they signed a contract earlier this year - However, doesn't mean they wont trade him probably just means the offer needs to be good for them.

Jones and Pick 29 to Saints. Stanley and Pick 24 to the Dee's.

OR

Warnock for Stanley...

You mean this one, >

"St Kilda has had a big week in the contract department with eleven players signing on with the club. Influential midfielder Nick Dal Santo has agreed to stay a Saint until the end of the 2013 season whilst team-mates Justin Koschitzke, Lenny Hayes, Jason Gram, Adam Schneider and James Gwilt have all signed to march on with the team until the end of the 2012 season. Meanwhile Steven Baker and Jason Blake ensured themselves another season, signing a one year deal together with young guns Jack Steven, Ben McEvoy, Alistair Smith and Rhys Stanley.

The Saints now have a firm side as Brendan Goddard and Leigh Montagna both signed three year deals earlier this year."

Yeah - I always think short-term deals signal to the market he is a required player but if the price was right we may consider moving him on.

The vendor is motivated just not interested in listening to "bargain basement offers".

Oh ... I should add I think Stanley is a player at least "worth" talking too ... why I said earlier this year .. Lynch & Stanley - saints that cant get a game

IMHO ... This is the type of player that is the right age, the right ability hopefully with plenty improvement & "may" be starved of opportunities at St Kilda due to Kosi & Reiwoldt

I don't see why players like this get honestly suggested by people on here for trade, I can tell you as a fact, there is NO WAY St Kilda are going to accept a Stanley/Warnock straight swap, not in a million years. Stanley is a raw young player with potential and at the trade table, that's an expensive commodity. Carlton were happy with Lachie Henderson as an apt trade for the Coleman medalist (at that time) Brendan Fevola last year, Henderson was very much in the same category as Stanley is this year. Will take a hell of a lot more than Matty Warnock to get him to Melbourne and that's definitely not a price worth paying, especially if our early picks are involved.

Granted ... Why did they only sign him for 1 year then?

GWS could be on the agenda. deal could be player/manager driven for strategic re3asons/.

Oh, OK... Right... Then we might in the running if nothing eventuates for us this year for tall ruck/forward situation.

Spencer may come on next year but only as a straight ruck type, if he's still on our list.

Then Fitzpatrick hopefully keeps improving as he's got a long way to go, to having a body ready for AFL.

make a play for him that doesnt involve pick 12 or our flag core, lyon love recycled players

Isn't there a rule that a player can't be traded just after signing a new contract? From memory it was based on essendon and Heffernan...

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
