Sam Blease?

Maybe replace the word 'improve' with 'recover' and such petty misunderstandings can be avoided in the future... sheeesh!!

It is such a shame because his pace was his one of his major attributes before he done his leg. Assuming he fully recouperates from it the only thing we have lost is a season with him. He will get a chance to justify his selection 17?? so I will look forward to that. This kid could be our Matera.

David Wojinski had a bad break and not sure of all the details but he has definately not lost any pace. Blease still has time to get his confidence in it back too. I think he will show his potential, whatever that is going to be, maybe by the end of next year and into 2012. If all else goes well.

Hmmmmn.

Does anyone remember a bloke called Garry Lyon, you might know from that footage where he is being carried from the Whitten Oval with a BROKEN LEG in his FIRST season of football.

He turned out alright....I think.

Go Dees - Building for the Future.

This is what I read into it Enforcer, As I've said in previous Blease threads. I believe this kid will struggle to make the grade at AFL level solely because he broke his leg and his game is built on speed, run and breaking lines. Seasoned AFL players rarely come back from seriously broken legs let alone skinny kids yet to play senior footy. I hate to say and I mean this I really hate it but I think we have lost out on a No.18 pick. Shoot me down at will, I hope I'm wrong.

BTW I know he's young and has time on his side.

He's lost none of his pace. If you'd actually bothered to follow what's going on at the club, rather than just blurting whatever idiotic thought comes into your head you'd know that...

I agree.

It sounds like speculation by someone who hasn't actually seen him play this year, but is going by the reports that his form hasn't been fantastic.

I think you're being a bit generous there... anyway, i'm looking forward to seeing him next year. He's exciting and I reckon he'll add another dimension to our midfield if he can stay fit.

The club has nursed him along well IMO. I don't think it's difficult to imagine the FD have very high hopes for Blease and him being part of the 'aspiring' premiership side. This year has been about getting time into that leg and there is no reason to believe he couldn't come back as well as his talent allows.

There are no guarantees on him, broken leg or not.

The pins out & a full pre-season and we can judge him on what will be, essentially, his first season.

You might as well point out that Max Gawn will have to "improve dramatically to make it", too.

He is a slight, physically undeveloped kid, coming back from a monstrous injury setback. His form in the VFL has apparently been solid without being outstanding, with the occasional good game, like the one against the Gold Coast. To expect his output to even remotely measure up to what is required at AFL level is patently absurd, and so to point out that his performances have been a long way from AFL standard is absolutely pointless.

Similar to Blease.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Two Sheds wasn't talking about Gawn being a skinny undeveloped teenager who showed flashes against the GoldCoast.

He was referring to Blease.

I think this is where the confusion lies.

I believe Blease will be a very good player for the MFC. I see a very clear team role for him.

I have less concerns about him than I do about some of our other higher profile recruits.

Remember that he played a lot of part games in VFL reserves (in which he did well and looked a class above) before dipping his toe in at Casey seniors. It was never about this year for him. From what I saw of him he looks every bit an AFL player.

Daytona rather than just attacking an opinion how about offering something yourself !! Far from idiotic but rather a fairly well informed opinion, I have followed Sam Blease quite closely since he was drafted from Norwood. I have nearly watched all his ressies games at Casey live HAVE YOU ???

Forums are all about opinions so don't be a [censored] and offer one from time to time.

One of the problems with a democratic society is that flogs are allowed to express an opinion no matter how little knowledge they have of the subject at hand.

The other problem is that they're entitled to vote.

Yeah, I did say something.

You don't have a clue. You're, as they say, clueless.

If you'd watched any of his games this year you'd see his pace and athleticism is intact, merely he is taking a while to get back up to speed after a year out of the game at a young age.

Nothing out of the usual there.

Having also suffered a similar injury to Sam, I happen to know what the recovery is like.

Having the pins removed will make a big difference.

I'd say beyond offering a terribbly uneducated opinion, you've offered very little else.

Like, for argument's sake, some facts to back up your inflammatory opinion..?

You're the only one in this thread who thinks Blease's career is over.

That makes you pretty special...

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
