Robbo to kick 100!

In a team that just Ooozes Yzes, Robbo is right on target to kick the ton for the Shepparton Swans in the coming round or two.

Currently sitting on 93 goals from 15 rounds (yep, 6 goals a game).

He and Adem Yze have played every game for the season, injury free. Damien Yze also has 56 goals for the season, Adem Yze has 23 and Ramadan Yze rounds it out with his own 13 from the midfield.

Might be mistaken but there's a Nathan Brown on the team list that I think is our own Doggy Brown - last I heard those three were all doing the grassroots proud.

That sure is Doggy Brown. The boys are all up there together, loving it from all reports. Woewodin has also played a couple of games when he has had the chance.

Notice they have a Chris Grant on their team as well.

That's a strong list..

He's only played one game though according to the stats on their site. Woewodin's only played twice. Looks as if Robertson, Brown and the Yzes are regular though.

The least number of goals Robbo has kicked in a game is three and he's only done that twice. That's a pretty impressive effort, though you'd expect it at that level if he's still relatively fit.

Interesting that Paul Newman, former MFC rookie, kicked 10 goals against for Kyabram in their 12 goal thumping of Shep Swans. Kicked 82 for the year.

Some interesting names popping up when you look through a lot of the teams, especially the top teams.

Paul Newman would be one of the best 3 country footballers in Victoria at the moment. Had all the talent to make it, just a country boy who didnt like the city. Shame.

Ramadan Yze rounds it out with his own 13 from the midfield.

With a name like that he sounds muslim which would suggest Adem is too but I thought Houli was the first to play AFL.

I was actually born and raised in Rochy and my old man works on their senior coaching panel, so while I love seeing Robbo, Yze and Woey do well, I have to quietly hope they don't do too well. If I recall correctly the GVFL -after a long and futile attempt to enforce a salary cap- have ended up completely scrapping it, which has worked out nicely for the Swans, who seem to have always had a bit of coin to throw around for ex-AFL players. I bet the guys would be absolutely stoked about getting the chance to play together again at this stage in their football lives, though, so it's great in that regard.

And yeah, Goffy, that is our Doggy Brown.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well …

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
