Jurrah's Height

Watching yesterdays game on TV (in WA) David Schwarz said that Jurrah has had a growth spurt this year while out injured and is now 6'4 (193cm), he repeated the claim about 3 times during the game. He is listed as 188cm, so he has grown 5cm. That's a fair bit of growth at his age. Anyone know if this is correct?

not impossible though probable ?? I grew an inch ( itol) between 21-23..a bit odd i know..lol.

its a curiosity though...

However Ive often wondered how they measure footy players as Ive stood next to some and wondered !!!!

He always looks tall and lanky. Maybe he has, maybe the ox has it wrong. It's hard to know definatively.

For him in any case i don't think it matters as he is never going to be the towering beast in the middle of the pack taking the grab.

He will be the beast flying over the top to take the grab or roving the ball off the ground using his speed and agility.

I thought he was 191 when he came to the club. There were a number of conflicting reports on how tall he was though, so I could easily be wrong.

There were a lot of conflicting reports when he first came to the club as an unknown. From memory there was a lot of discussion of whether he was recruited as a medium forward at 188cm or tall forward at 191ish cm....

Always seems to be some conflict in regards to correct heights. Is this just fun and games from players or a purpose to supplying incorrect info?

Love the Ox but as a commentator not sure I would put too much credence in what he says.

In any case Jurrah has the longest arms I've seen in a while.

Is Max Gawn 205cm, 208cm or 211cm?

Cos I've heard all 3.

I often put little weight in players' listed heights, rather I try to judge it based on appearance.

In the end it doesn't matter; all that matters is how they compete.

I remember Neitz hovered between 191 and 193... at one stage he was 195.

I reckon you go on what you see. Lloyd was the best KP forward of the past 10 years, and he was 191 I'm led to believe.

SO true- I believe he was 191 cms tall when he arrived and he doeas seem to have grown a little ,so 193 cms is not out of question. I remember Justin Maddern still growing at 23.

True.

AFL Tables is the one I tend to rely on and they have him at 191cms.

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/players/L/Liam_Jurrah.html

Others have him at 188.

Nick Riewoldt is listed as 193cm

Lynden Dunn at 192

Juice at 193

Pavlich 192

Stats are deceiving.

I remember asking Jack Watts how much he had grown this year and he said " we never measure it so I couldn't tell you".

I think some clubs use that AFL stats to mislead opposition teams who might be planning match ups etc.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
