Jamar's trade value is worth whatever a club is willing to pay.

Cam Wood being a prime example of what clubs would be willing to pay.

I would want a first rounder for him, if we can't get a first rounder then no deal.

Melbourne have offered a 2 year deal to Jamar. It will be upto him now!

I am sure Port will be offering at least 3 years + more $$$. What would you take if you were Jamar? Port looks the goods. He is 26 and gets to go home also.

The Dee's are pumping him up to get Ports Pick 9. Knowing Port will offer a better deal to Jamar.

Melbourne are just positioning themselves to get the best deal for him I think!

Expect Jamar to Port before the week is out!!!

Jamar isn't worth a top 20 pick, so I'd only consider trading him for a player.

Little wonder that Melb have offered him a 2 year deal. Unfortunately, he's worth more to us than anyone else.

The spud.

:D

Ok. So he's nowhere NEAR a pick 8 or 9. But what if it's to upgrade pick 18. Say pick 18, Jamar and Buckley for pick 9. Gives us room on the list and gets us a Cunnington/Tapscott... or the best ruckman if that's what you feel we need.

Stupid?

So if Jamar goes to port, then Spencer promoted and Valenti becomes our 3 year rookie?

We all expect loyalty from our players how about we show a little bit back. Unless Jamar wants to go home keep him. He is in our best 22 atm and unless whoever we get for him is we will lose sort term.

Davey recently and Green last year stayed true to us how about giving them a bit of support and a better chance to actually win a few games this year by keeping our #1 ruckman.

If Port offers us pick 9 which is doubtful I would quietly ask Jamar where he prefers to play and if he says for Melbourne then i would reject it. Loyalty is a two way street. We cannot expect loyalty from our players then show none back in return.

Robbo, Wheatley and Brock are all disgruntled at the way they have been treated which is a fact of life to move forward but lets not upset the whole group.

Not on this board buddy ... ;) Most around here prefer to tell you ... "how crap we are!" Constantly criticising our players & the club at every opportunity.

Sorry think you might have made a wrong turn somewhere!!!

I agree. While the Woewodin deal could be perceived as a win for the club purely in terms of the trade and the Ryan Ferguson non-trade with Brad Sewell a loss; what isn't factored in is the residual effect on the rest of the playing group and it's cost when they have to re-sign with the club. A player's respect/influence within the playing group is an important consideration. ATEOTD (at the end of the day) the Brock McLean trade was a win win because ignoring the benefits of pick 9 vs Brock, it was about a player who wasn't committed to the club finding a new home. It was handled in a dignified and professional manner. It reflects well on the clubs management and approach.

Jamar has been offered a new two year deal by the club. Port are desperate for an established ruckman and will probably offer more money and more years, but the decision will be his. He'll either commit to Melbourne (a win) or he'll go home and that depends entirely what's put on the table. (BTW pick 9 was the rumoured offer for Hampson, it's not necessarily a logical progression that it will be the case with Jamar - especially seeing as Port haven't even got the pick yet from the Hawks)

Pick 9 for Jamar is completely fanciful. The guy is serviceable at best. It just won't happen.

And Jamar plus crap player, plus crap player, plus crap player still doesn't = pick 9.

Spot on H.

There is no way a Club will pay over the odds expected for a mediocre ruckman.

Collingwood traded their first round pick for Cameron Wood in 2007.

I think everyone on here knows that we would have to throw in pick 18 or another sweetener to get the deal over the line.

Unfortunately what is more likely to happen is Jamar DOES decide to go to port, and then port offer there 2nd round pick.

Port are probably the worst team to negotiate with.

They are desperate for a ruckman and it was floated 6 weeks ago Port would trade there first round for a ruckman. Jamar was mentioned back then.

Why would they do it? Because they have Pick 8 and are likely to get Pick 9 and want to trade it on for a ready made player. Jamar is peaking just at the right time and is a South Australian. Valenti shoudnt be on a rookie list but is. I rate him better than that and port will need an in and under type I would think. Still young!

I would take Valenti b4 Buckley and Bell. Throw in Lynden Dunn with Jamar. Another player who would get more game time at another club.

Personally i think Valenti is a very good vfl player and thats it not an afl player by any stretch, i think Buckley is very underated and has alot of upside he breaks the lines and has the ability to turn the game Bell and Dunn i agree but really what oppurtunities will they get elsewere can't get a game with a club struggling on the bottom for the last few years mabe careers over?? As for Jamar last year he would have been worth round 3 draft pick at best... has shown a bit this year but first round draft pick is a steal and if we could package with someone like bell bring it on free's up another spot on our list. Again this is only my opinion agreed or not..

Absolutely.

Everyone said that Swans were overpaying for Jolly when they traded it for Pick 14.

Seaby was effectively traded for pick 22.

Jamar's value is somewhere in between there.

Under normal circumstances I would agree, Although in the current climate established ruckman are like gold. I don't think it's out of the realms to ask for a straight swap for pick 9. If they won't we will gladly keep him. No sweeteners required but they can have Newton if they like !!

I read that we want to improve our draft picks Jamar isn't worth pick 9 but this deal could work

Port gets Jamar Picks 18 and 34

Melb gets Picks 8 and 24

I would be happy with that 4 picks in the first round and improve our third round pick into a early second round.

Collingwood traded their first round pick for Cameron Wood in 2007.

They overpaid. They recruited Wood for his future potential as well as current value.

Jamar should be coming into his prime but despite 7 credible games this year, he is plodder with questionable upside and dubvious fitness record.

I dont think everyone is realistic on this. Check Steamin Demon.

At best shock horror he is worth a mid range 20s pick. I dont think think your sweetener gets it there.

Port are lauded as the worst to deal due to the Stevens deal. That was at least 5 years ago. And that should have taught them a lesson. Hopefully.

Everyone said that Swans were overpaying for Jolly when they traded it for Pick 14.

Not true.

Is Hampson any better though? If the rumour regarding pick 9 for him is true, then Jamar would be worth something similar.

Not true.

Na i think it was. i remember C.C having a bet with Jolly's manager at the time that he would get a first round pick for him but the general consensus was that they overpaid for a guy who was strugging to get a game for sandy seniors. in hindsight they did very well.

The value of Jamar is obviously what a club is prepared to pay for him, and i wouldn't dismiss an offer being made in the top 20.

Supply and demand is an economic model based on price, utility and quantity in a market. It concludes that in a competitive market, price will function to equalize the quantity demanded by consumers, and the quantity supplied by producers, resulting in an economic equilibrium of price and quantity.

Principals work equally as well inside AFL trade environment.

Many of you are talking absolute rubbish.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
