Sylvia?

He'd be a test.

Jurrah 3 weeks is exciting... Bail broken cheekbone is not. Is that new, or did it happen last week?

He'd be a test.

Heard Connolly on Fox Sports News re: Sylvia, said he could be out as of Thursday, don't do the main session until Friday, don't play until Monday, "we'll make a decision later in the week"...so they will see what transpires.

While it is great to see Jurrah and Tapscott with 3 and 4 next to their name, do we really think they will be playing senior footy this year? You would think it would take LJ at least 2 in the reserves to get back in to it, Tappy may need 3 or 4, plus they have to perform at this level also.

Excited about seeing Gawn being 5 weeks away. Will be great to start reading reports about his progress through the Casey 2's for a start. Highly unlikely to get a MFC call up this year, but will be good to see if he can work his way in to the Casey 1's team before seasons end.

I think they will be given every chance billy. I recall in 2008, apart from yours truly (there may have been one other poster), no one gave Grimes a chance to get a taste before seasons end. Six weeks out from seasons end I said if JG gets a few games under his belt at Sandy seniors and is fit and he's form holds, why not play him in Rd 21 or 22 just for a taste before getting stuck into a pre-season a month later. Had no admirers at the time, but the rest is history, he debuted in Rd 22.

Of course, different set of circumstances now where Tapscott & Jurrah will more than likely have more weeks up their sleeve at Casey first and foremost. The FD will make absolutely sure they will be right to go, then it will depend upon form. They will be eased in, in terms of game time and then it will be ramped up, much like Watts' preparation. Then it will come down to earning a call up. I think they are both most capable of doing so this year. Let us see.

Could it be possible that Jurrah has a better conditioning level due to the nature of his injury?? Maybe wishful thinking on my part?!

Can't wait to see Jurrah again as well as Tapscott.....his highlights on You Tube are exciting enough, it really is like watching a Paul Chapman clone...if he can convert that to AFL level, we have a ripper on our hands!!

More excitement to come in the 2nd half of the year.

Blease at 2 weeks, Jurrah at 3 and Tapscott at 4 are nice signs.

Blease has been stuck on 2 weeks for a number of weeks now. Worrying signs that he just cant get it right. Fingers crossed he gets a good run during the second half of the year.

Given the amount of football Blease has missed and the potential lack of fitness, he will only be playing at Casey in round 14 and may have to build his fitness with a couple of 2 quarter matches. He would really have to perform at Casey to be AFL ready by Round 22.

Guys what is the situation with Meeson?

He has been "indefinite" for close to a year now!

What is his ankle injury? did his foot fall off?

1 year out and still no sign of him getting back seems strange.

Those numbers all sound very reasonable. But that would see Jurrah particularly, who has senior experience, ready for a call up around Round 17-18. Tapscott having not played would be more of a Jack Grimes potential situation where we give him a look Round 21-22. That would give him 2 weeks in Casey 2s and 4 weeks in Casey 1s.

Put it this way, if John Meesen was a horse, they'd have pulled out the screen and 12-gauge long ago.

His career is over.

As at the morning of the QB game this is the scenario:

James Frawley (back) test selected MFC

Nathan Jones (hamstring) test selected MFC

James McDonald (hamstring) test - out

Sam Blease (leg) 2 weeks - out

Liam Jurrah (shoulder) 3 weeks - out

Jake Spencer (knee) 3 weeks - out

Rohan Bail (cheekbone) 3-4 weeks - out

Luke Tapscott (hip) 4 weeks - out

Max Gawn (knee) 5 weeks - out

John Meesen (ankle) indefinite - out

Ricky Petterd (shoulder) season - out

Not on injury list but out

Colin Sylvia - out

Michael Newton - out

Stefan Martin - out

Rhys Healey - out

My question is - who puts together the club's injury list and why?

If we as expected are not in finals contention come round 22 and Blease has had some Casey time I would not be suprised to see him given a taste similar to Grimes in 2008.

Yep. One of Meesen's friends posted last year when he first got injured saying that John thought his career was over because of this injury. I thought it may have just been hysteria at the time, but it appears to be on the money now.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
