1. Miller, yes, Miller!!! Thought he presented well for most of the day. He isn't an A-grade Forward, but is required to play that role.

6 Green - Great second half

5 Davey - Creative ball use

4 Gysberts - Great debut, good defensive pressure

3 Jones - Played a good game on Ablett, and his disposal resulted in a few f50 marks

2 Bartram - Excellent defensive game on Chapman, who usually tears us a new one

1 Wonaeamirri - Good defensive pressure in the forward-line, and will be better for the game he played today.

I'm surprised with some of the votes here: MacDonald? Wonna? Didn't really think either of them was particularly good.

McDonald? Thought he had an average one.

Thought Green, Frawley, Davey, Gysberts, Bartram were clear best 5 and raffle for another, be it Miller or Jamar.

Not one to usually comment on other people's votes, but Sylvia? Honestly?

Then vote. :)

Was that in response to me?

I'll vote then, in my drunken laughably odd state as I wait for my pizza with free garlic bread.

6. Gysberts (I simply cannot go past a guy in his debut at such a venue being a key part of our play and looking solid throughout.)

5. Green (for providing the only, for a change!, forward target that we have)

4. Bartram (has worked bloody hard and has reached, if not surpassed, the player he was in '06)

3. Frawley (nough said)

2. Davey (tried hard all day)

1. Moloney (as with Davey)

Apology to Miller and Mcdonald who also battled hard but just didn't do quite enough.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
