Which up and coming rucks. Martin has a long way to go, as does Spencer.

I'd prefer Meesen over PJ. Meese showed more big man strength in 3 games than PJ ever has

Jamar/ Martin in AFL

Spencer/PJ in the VFL.

GAWN will be back in the 2nd half of the season. I'd focus any big man opportunities on players with a future.

Meesen in the VFL seconds.

He is playing out time on his contract.

No he didn't. Not even by our shite standards of 2009 could you have called any of his games great. A couple were serviceable at best. It's got me stuffed how this myth started.

We drafted a player by the name of Gawn, 203cm (i think), will play before Meeson ever does again.

Fitzpatrick, although drafted as a forward i think is capable in the ruck.

Martin, developing and was drafted as a long term prospect, slowing showing signs

All of the above are able to kick a football, Meeson can NOT, which makes him a liability when he is on the field

While his 3 or 4 games were impressive and he showed some good signs I don't know if I would have called them great? Best case for Melbourne would be if he can play some really good games for Casey, Jamar has a slight injury late in the year and Meesen plays 3 or 4 impressive AFL matches late in the year, at least them it might boost any potential trade value he may have for Hawthorn or Port Adelaide (sides lacking in ruck stocks). Otherwise sadly to say he'd be 7th in our ruck pecking order.

1. Jamar (AFL 1 ruckman)

2. Martin (AFL 2 ruckman who can also play forward and back)

3. Spencer (VFL 1 ruckman)

4. Johnson (VFL 2 ruckman who can play forward and back???)

5. Gawn (VFL reserves 1 ruckman, injured but long term prospect)

6. Fitzpatrick (VFL reserves 2 ruckman, mainly a forward, and from Gotch's comments last week can also go back) I'm excited about this kid!

I got a feeling he'll play a few games, seeing that our other ruckmen haven't proven anything spectacular yet. Meesen, if he can get onto the senior list, will play a few, until Gawn and Fitzpatrick are ready, or until he's proven thats he's not suitable for AFL footy.

Somewhat under-rated on this site.

Don't confuse under-rated with not rated.

He is a terrible footballer who has done nothing at two clubs.

He has as much chance of making it as Newton does.

He won't play though. He's a rookie and I highly doubt the FD will bother promoting him. And he isn't that good.

Why the hel re draft him as a rookie then? what a waste, add him to the many list cloggers we are accumulating.

We had to as he was contracted for 2010, we could have only of drafted someone else if another club picked him up first. I was expecting Hawthorn to.

Gawn is 206 cm and one of the better runners at the club and is also a long kick and has very good hands ie Sandilands like but more mobile and more skillful. He IMO is one of six or seven long term players who could make the difference on Grand Final day as in full flight Sandilands is the only player in the competition who has the size to match him.

The only reason he was not drafted in the top 12 was because of his knee injury . If he gets anywhere near his potential he will be a gun. If he is fit in the second half of the season and plays ok at Casey then we should definitely play him in the AFL this year. One of our most exciting prospects in my opinion

Even without a ready ruckman, they could not be that silly to recruit a player with LT foot stress fractures
