must be the worst commentator in history. The footy today is unenjoyable to watch because she is calling it. What were ch 10 thinking. I cant watch the photo while she is calling the game.

It's not about the voice, it's about the incessant catch-phases reeled out one after another. I'd mute the TV, but Tim Lane and Malcolm Blight are on, both of whom actually think before they speak.

It's not just about the voice

I've helped you out there.

Also, did anyone notice when the Crows were coming in the last she said that they needed 7 goals to win when they were down by 25 points ? She looked at the goals column, which said 6 goals to 13, but didn't take into account Adelaide's 1 million points.

Embarrassing.

Underwood is terrible and I turned it off rather than continue to listen to her. I can't stand her monotone and some of the drivel she comes out with is just cringeworthy. I put her in a category above Rex Hunt as the worst commentator I have ever heard up till now Hunt was a clear winner.

It's not just her annoying voice. It's not that she's female. It's just that she's a baised as they come in the commentary box (more than Eddie) and I cant stand that.

Can still remember her cheering for Geelong whilst calling our game last year the mug!

She knows her stuff..??

Do you really believe that?

Unless she screwed her way into the job she must. I've heard her say some interesting things but they are book facts she has researched pre match rather than being able to analyse and describe on the run. If she stuck to providing research for the other commentators she'd do just fine.

she is there because the afl are just being soft, like the female goal umpires. Just wait until they have female field umpires.

bra burning has paid off.

ps, she [censored] me today, just an annoying voice with stupid comments.

She wasn't anywhere near as bad as Blight. What is that peanut on? Is there even the remotest chance of him stringing together a paragraph worth of sensible, gibberish-free commentary?

The main reason Ten are prepared to gamble with Underwood is the numbingly shallow talent-pool from which to draw talent capable of describing footy in succinct, accurate and logical English.

Precisely. I'm no Underwood fan, but she's no worse than Christian on Ten or Shaw on Fox. At least she generally gets players' names right, that puts her ahead of Shaw in my books.

It always bemuses me how hard a time channels seem to have in attracting competent commentators. There's so much garbage filling the airwaves during matches that it makes watching very difficult. It's probably got a lot to do with the fact that many of the jobs tend to go to players retiring from the game rather than genuinely talented commentators.

I agree Nasher, But Underwood was never a player and is certainly not a talented commentator!! How did she get the gig?

Right place, right time I can only presume. Much like Anthony Hudson (though Hudson is a superior commentator, which isn't saying a lot).

I was just thinking that, Hudson drives me mad, but he is a proffesional caller i have to admit, and apart from Tim Lane the cupboard is thin.

It's hard to be a commentator when you don't commentate. She just says names, that's it. When she tries to come out with something smart it's utter [censored]. Is anybody from channel 10 here? I hope so............

agree... terrible

along with inability to accurately calculate the number of goals required to bridge a 24 point deficit also had this beauty:

"Andrew McLeod at 34 just keeps getting better"

I've mentioned my unfortunate marital status before (Crows supporter although she will take out Dees membership and barrack for us and we've agreed it's best if the children are raised in The MFC faith) but even she wouldn't call Mcleod "..still improving..."

get her off

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
