I took my 2.5 year old to training today. The players and staff were fantastic. It is incredible how accessible they all are.

For those interested Wanna said he is 2-3 away from playing.

Col said he wasn't that close this week but should be right next week.

What was an utter shambles was the fact that there are NO GOALS AT JUNCTION OVAL. No wonder we cant kick. Attached is a photo of the Auskick goals they were using.

i read somewhere Garland played 3 quarters for Casey and Sylvia will miss this week just for precautionary reasons only.

Does anybody know the timetable on the junction?

We must be leaving soon, as in weeks i hope.

I don't see the problem Frank. Our forward line is non-existent and we can't buy goals in a chook raffle. We really don't need goalposts at all for training.

How boring, oh well at least its only months-when Schwab says we concede 3-4 goals a game because of the junction-this is what he means.

Garland didn't play last night.

Garland played last week for about 3 Qtrs.

Collingwood actually train on a ground that has no goal posts over summer.

Was there any word on Jared Rivers?

He wasn't on the official injury list that was published on the AFL website during the week and now he's out with a knee injury. I haven't heard or read any comments as to how serious a knee injury it might be.

and that, gentlemen, is why i keep getting told that my club is a joke. no goalposts? [censored].

What about our facilities? Third world? MFC should make a jump and give the boys some decent facilities, not expecting Colling-garbage or Carltank like but something of a standard.

Rivers injured his ribs last week. They said he was out with another type of injury, not sure why? Maybe to hide the injury from opposition teams when he returns.

And in terms of no goal posts, it is a hassle, but really not the end of the world. We will not be at the Junction soon, and then who cares, and I am not sure how much goal kicking practice we will need for this week.

Maybe we need the goal posts to practice how to defend from close to them and how to kick out.

I heard Rivers was icing his knee all week. Probably was the knee.

Posts should be up by now. Would like someone to drive past and give us a quick update. Reckon in 2010 its a bit average not to have posts at an AFL training venue.

No goal posts at our training venue..?

Have the panel on Footy Classified been reading Demonland..??!?

Goalposts are just mental markers. If you can kick accurately they are only needed on gameday. This makes sense in my head but is probably riddled with holes. Feel free to poke..

This is what I think too. As long as you have something that tells you whether you missed or not (could even be witches' hats), then that's good enough. Obviously not preferable though.

Ha but still training is all about simulating match conditions.

well since people take what they see on footy classified and make a thread out of it, i'll just take what I saw on footy classified, Lyon's comments, and respond: you are not telling the club anything they don't already know when you say it is a disgrace etc they are working on the problem. End of story.

This is true. But is a goal post a physical structure of wood which can be touched or merely a white vertical line of which to kick the ball through? I suppose running into one would answer that question. But yes, preferably a side that trains football should have goal posts present on the field. Seeing as it forms the main nucleus of our game.. Almost like ice hokey men training without skates.

Training is about improving skills and there are a range of drills that can be done without having to have pot shots at the sticks.

Might give us an edge, we could reduce the size of the goals, a bit like altitude training.

I would have thought the bigger concern was the middle of the ground being roped off (as it was on footy classified, not sure how it was at training).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
