Sylvia has broken his jaw. Source : C Schwab after the game. At least 3-4 weeks, longer if both sides broken.

I was wondering where he went.

Nothing is going our way.

Where struggling as it is we dont need this!!!

You're f*cking kidding us yeah??

EDIT: No you werent..

Jesse Hogan reports that Melbourne's nightmare run with injury has continued, with star forward Colin Sylvia suffering a broken jaw after being bumped by West Coast key forward Josh Kennedy in the first quarter. Syylvia could miss as many as eight weeks.

I give up.

He joins Callum Morton, Liam Jurrah and Daniel Bell on the sidelines.

Who is Callum Morton? Did we draft another Morton?

Seriously a monkey could type better reports.

these injuries have really set the tone for 2010. :( the last two seasons have been hard to watch, i'm personally going to struggle sitting through another like them.

What draft picks do we get if we finish in 16th place this year?

This is getting pretty depressing. Oh well, at least we`ll be fast tracking kids, ready to play or not!

Hands up... we might need help from demonland to make up a team for round 1... if so who's free !!!

Why can't we take a trick...

This sucks, there is no positive to come out of this. Please no one say at least the kids can get a chance etc etc.... Honestly its like where destined not to succeed is it some sort of curse???? Seriously this is shattering.

It would be interesting to see how many serious injuries we have had over the last 10 years and by serious I mean those that mean the loss of 6 to 8 weeks or more. I understand that a lot of injuries are just bad luck but we have had an enormous number that are related to soft tissue and stress injuries. If we had the money the club should do a review of all these injuries to find out where we are going wrong. Is it the medical staff, the conditioning staff or is our training methods and facilities?

Whatever, we need to review our methods and try to find out where we are going wrong.

I am as [censored] off about the injuries as anybody, but I have to point out that all of this year's serious ones have been collision injuries; and they happen in our game.

Not so, there have been injuries to players like Davey, Bruce, Wonna, Bate and Watts that are all soft tissue related. There are probably others that I can't name off the top of my head.

We have had a terrible time with these types of injuries and others like OP over the last ten years and I would say a lot worse than any other club. If this happened in a Private or Public company we would have OH & S all over us demanding to know why.

I understand that you did say major but we don't know the ramifications of Watts and Wonna yet and Bate has only had one game back so who knows what the future holds for him.

Ummm... Really?? Worst comment I've ever read on these forums by a very long way.

Yeah. That Bohdan Babicjuk just isn't doing enough to strengthen our players' jaw bones. Worst running coach ever.

He's teaching them to run into the wrong places, hence the collision injuries..........

You know, when I think about it, you're right. I'll bet that poor Isaac Weetra didn't get a single written warning before his dimissal either.

You've definitely hit upon a realistic and completely relevant problem with how our professional, full contact sport is run.

Question - Did Sylvia collide with Brad Ebert? AFL Website is reporting Ebert being knocked out as the only casualty.

Bloody hopeless, that Bigpond-run site.

Edit: just saw it was Kennedy. Same article from "The Age" at least mentions that SYYLVIA broke his jaw, continuing Melbourne's injury woes, considering we've already lost CALLUM Morton.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
