I reckon Petterd is in our best 22 now given his current form.

Will be hard for Newton to have a big year from the rookie list, unless they mean for Casey.

agree, PJ at Full Forward is an absolute doozy. a case can be made for naming Grimes on the interchange too.

Definitely not much thought gone into that prediction ... maybe its our most experienced team but a fair stretch from our best, especially in the light of statements about a youth lead revival. None of Garland, Bennell, Jetta, Cheney or the '09 draftees definitely make you wonder!

The Age... what a joke, I expect better from them. Bartram? PJ? Dunn? Where are Scully and Trengove? What about Stef? Bennell?

Of course the forward line won't have any firepower when PJ is down there you fools.

Scully and Trengove are "ready-made players" apparently, but yet they can't get a gig.

Poor.

The AFL.com one was pretty accurate, however.

Anyone else notice thet the Age's "Star Five" are just our four most experienced players + Bate? No Grimes, no Sylvia. No thought really. A oretty pathetic effort from what is usually a reliable paper.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that.

No surprise that there's no mention of who the author was. Whoever wrote it wouldn't want to have their name put next to it.

PJ should play CHF. That is where he started his career.

so from afl.com.au's best 22 - who will miss out? Morton and Jurrah?! So 2 from our best 22 isn't in too bad shape to go into round 1 with?!

If we could get either of those teams onto the park, there is clearly enough experience there line by line to be competitive - plenty of 3+ years  . Would like to see more bullishness about our chances. The youth argument doesn't wash with these line-ups - every team has some inexperience.

No Pettard, no Grimes in the Age. No Pettard, no Watts in AFL. I wonder what the definition of "Best team" is in both cases

Again as I mentioned in the Sun review, forget the best 22 team

Let the flogging begin

Grimes on the IC .. think grimes may be better than a few others listed in the 18

If Watts is good enough to be on the IC after 3 games presumably Scully and trengrove are our on the emergency bench...

Just another nameless journo that posts under the pseudonym AAP who has APDNFI

PS For those unaware AAP is a news service that sends the same story to many outlets

PPS APDNFI Absolutely Postively Definately No ... Idea

Another summation of our situation leading into the season ...

Can't find much to argue with that. At least he wasn't suckered into picking a "best 22".

I'm hoping Maric has a break-out year too.

Another summation of our situation leading into the season......

2010 AFL premiership season preview with Leigh Colbert: Melbourne Demons

A couple of things jumped out at me on reading this:

Re: Addam Maric "think Shaun Higgins" ........ I'd love to think so, but it would be a huge step up!

Re: Lynden Dunn "has a bit of mongrel about him. Perhaps too much". .......Is that the Lynden Dunn who plays for Melbourne? Not from where I sit!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
