Watch us winning a premiership get more media attention than them finishing 6th

Watch Ball going to Pies get more media than Scully at number 1.

It is a Huge Story Ball at Pick 30 gets to the Pies at 500K.

At this stage Tom Scully has done Nothing. His time will come....

If Brock was worth Pick 11, a done deal in trade week, how big does pick 30 (ie avoided by teams with 29 picks BEFORE pick 30) really rate? Sounds like Ball's a deal that we'll be very glad we passed on

On a side note, as will have been mentioned by now in the draft event thread. The two key reasons we kept talking about Ball were

1. to see if we could fox another club into picking differently based on the belief that we were taking Ball at 18.

And reason two... this is golden -

2. To get as many opportunities as possible to talk about how we have a fantastic list of young midfielders (i.e. 'Ball would be useful to help develop our fantastic group of young midfielders') I think this explains why it was starting to feel to me like we were talking about him as an assistant coach, he was never thought of as a player for us!

I hope the Pies get value out of Ball. Because he comes at a price $$$. I hope the Pies can look after his OP too.

Wouldn't want to push him too hard in Arizona.

It's all hope at this stage.

dissapointing to see LB sooky little head blocking the HANKOOK sign on the front page of the SUN.

Oh, slightly OT but I had to chuckle looking at the HUN sports confidential today where they noted the Luke ..... Tapscott call. Strange thing was they said it was Port Adelaides pick. Bizarre really.

Ball is an AA, a former captain, a B&F winner & was one of St. Kilda's best players in the GF, Scully on the other hand could be the next Jack Watts.

We don't need the press - there'll be enough press when we start doing our thing.

We should just carry on and be happy we haven't used our picks on a Josh Fraser or a Dale Thomas

Wrong again. Scully is the next Jack Watts, in that he is the next number 1 pick. Now we have 2 from 2, whilst you have a slow Saints reject who, although 25 has the groins of a 45 year old distance runner. Take your pick, I know who I'd pick, and so does my club.

Speaking of the media.. anybody enjoy that little snippet in the Hun about how Port Adelaide (wrong) caused drama with a pause calling out "Luke" (correct) with their 18th pick (they had 18 picks?) when they selected Luke Tapshott (wrong)?

So many errors, so little time.

Also laughed when they spoke of how tough.. i think it was Cunnington was? Said it stemmed from his father because he had tatts? Hopeless.

I was over the whole situation. As I said 6 weeks ago, I wouldn't mind if we got Taylor or Josh Thomas at #30 (instead of Ball), who is this years Dayne Beams. We got him & Ball, win/win.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
