I am a little concerned at the lack of senior players up forward on our present list.

Brad Green shows commiitment & courage as high as any AFL Player

Is he an option for that 30-50 goal player in the forward 50 Arc?

Yes and Yes.

I can't really see where else he will play without pushing one of the younger guys out of the side.

We don't have a full forward. Watts and Jurrah won't be playing there. Juice will be playing two's unless a miracle

manifests and Miller will be CHF.

I think it's a great idea WYL.

Let's hope the coaching panel do too...

If, by this time next year, we are revising whether Green had a good or bad season in the forwardline, I will be a happy man.

This will mean that other players in the middle have really stepped up and we've had the luxury of playing Green alongside Bate and Jurrah.

I don't think the backline needs Greens leadership anymore, But the forward line sure does.

The Potential is there to have the best forward line in the league, But right now it must be straightened up.

Green can Mark & is a superb kick. Set Shot or on the run.

I thought Brad has always been a forward, He played as decoy to Neiter for while and thrived. I believe he is that good he has been able to adapt to be a gun mid. I hope he plays from the square early next year just to see how we go because our forward line at the moment is very green, Pardon the pun !!

Yes, everyone has wanted Green to play forward and probley even the coach. Problem is that in the past we needed him in the midfield more then down forward. I hope this year he can settle down forward where everyone knows he belongs.

IMO I believe that Green should be CHF and Miller deep in FF because of Greens longer range kick and millers bigger body taking the FB and letting Jurrah and Watts run around, it could end up been one potent foward line with the likes of Bate, Wonaeamirri and even Sylvia and Davey swaping in and out.

I believe that Green should be played up forward (full time) with absolutely no time spent in the middle. I think he's the ideal person to play FF out of the square and provide some leadership, advice, support and size to Jurrah and Watts.

I see Green being used as a mentor by Watts, Jurrah and Bate to assist in their development. You could also argue he could help Newton with his kicking for goal and positioning around the ground.

I also see Bruce and McDonald playing a similar leadership role across the backline, aiding in the development of Strauss, Grimes, Bennell, Cheney, McNamara, Morton etc.

If I recall correctly it was Brad who asked to be moved out of the forward line in to the middle and I doubt he would want to go back there. Probably would prolong his football career if he did go forward though.

Brad isn't required in the backline. Good KPP posts. Games to be pumped into Bennell and Strauss and experience can be provided with Jmac and Bruce.

Green playing permanent forward is my go too. A Mark Williams type back when the Hawks were still [censored]. He's a good lead and mark and true kick.

He is an honest hard at it player with generally good kicking who will be part of a midfield/HB rotation with a player like Bruce. He might pinch hit up forward from time to time but he isnt a KPF by a long way and has failed as a permanent forward early in his career. Too much fantasy from 2000 finals.

I think Morton might be given a go up forward from time to time next season.Wouldn't mind seeing him alternating with Watts while Watts is settling into his role.

What you say has Merit RR, but what Green has on his side is experience & that is what the present forward line on paper at least is lacking. Maybe i am under selling Matty Bate who i think has really worked hard over the last 2 years in trying conditions.

I like the idea of Cam Bruce the old head in Defence. Brad Green the old head in attack.

Problem is -assuming we don't get Luke Ball- where is the experience going to come from in the midfield next year? With McLean gone and McDonald and Bruce spending more time on the HBF as you pointed out, if we made Green a permanent forward the closest we'd have to seasoned midfielders would be Moloney (who's just had his first real season in four years), Davey (who's just had his first good season in the midfield) and Jones (who'll be 22).

Don't get me wrong, I prefer Green as a forward pocket/HFF and ultimately see him finishing his career there, but I think that at least in 2010, he'll be played as a utility and used to plug gaps anywhere we need him and mostly in the midfield and backline, much like this year. If we can get Luke Ball or if a few of our midfielders mature quicker than expected, it could obviously free him up to spend more time up forward sooner.

Shorter and lighter than Robbo. and Robbo wasnt a FF..only ever a good third up really in the pocket.

Weve seen Brad tried up there in the past..out of necessity and it just doesnt really work.

Brad is far far better better working the ground esp along a wing
