Trent Zomer – Trent had an up-and-down year at Casey. He started the year as a forward and then went down back. The main area he needs to work on is his second and third efforts. His first effort is good but as a big forward, he needs to work on getting back onto the ball quicker. That's an area he has been working on and he has shown improvement – Sean Wellman on Melbournefc.com.au

Who the hell is this bloke?!

Sums up my feelings on the matter adequately.

Sean's being very kind I feel. . Not really showing anything this lad. Time for a change

Shame he is not going to make it when he has such a cool name.

unfortunately i would rather my 82 year old grandmother play before Trent...

He is pathetic.... Brent Girgic is better.

I don't know why people feel the need to piss on the kid on the way out. And it's not just Zomer, it's all the guys who have a crack but clearly aren't good enough. Show some respect please.

I didn't say anything derogatory about the kid, just stated that i'd rather my grandmother in the starting 18 :)

There's plenty of kids out there like Trent, who are recruited for their potential, and most simply can't break it into the AFL. He'll probably go on to play a lot of football, but i don't see it at AFL or VFL level.

Word has it that he moved very well for a big man, is a natural athlete, and had never had to work very hard to succeed

As it turns out, attitude, and being prepared to bust ya nut is essential if you are going to make it in the AFL.

Sadly, Trent never pulled his finger out to be a 'professional' athlete. As such, he was told he would not be on the list next year back in September.

No shortage of these stories in the AFL/VFL

Totally agree Nash. Geez, Trent was picked up as a late rookie ......... a punt on a 'speccie' that didn't work out ie. just like the vast majority of those selected at the tail end of the draft.

Pretty much sums up my opinion of him.

Another one of these bloody basketballers we keep trying to turn into footballers

Agreed. We do this to every player, it's no wonder we never hear form many of them again. Would be nice if we had the kind of culture that made people want to come back to the club...

Yeah cos that's such a nice thing to say! :D

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
