break out year?

frawley for captain

ok so this year the big break out player was obviously James Frawley. the kid will be a gun full back!

Col Sylvia also finally stepped up and Grimes showed what he can do but i'm expecting next year to be his break out year.

Who's going to come to the party next year?

My tip is for Morton to become a super star next year. Huge break out year for Cale.

anyone else?

I'm looking forward to seeing Sylvia and Moloney working in tandem this year in the centre. Really want to see them take the next step.

Also hoping that Col stays on the straight and narrow and gets to play the full 22 without any disciplinary issues...

I wish Football season wasn't so far away...

M.Newton.....

I've given up on this bloke.

I'm not usually down on players, but I saw him play in the game against Richmond, and he was insipid.

Every time he got his hands on the ball, a turnover ensued.

Such a waste of time and resources.

Last year I was happy to see him play if it meant improvement. But we got little, so I'm happy to burn him now.

1. Jurrah

2. Jetta

3. Bennell

4. Maric

Liam Jurrah hands down. He will be a superstar.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

The Michael Jordan of the AFL.

From left field, I'd have a couple of dollars on Jetta.

A solid pre-season in the gym and on the track could seriously elevate him up a few levels.

He definately has the smarts, he just needs his body to mature and be able to run out games and bust a gut.

The exact same thing could be said for Jamie Bennell.

I also highly rate Addam Maric.

I expect big things from him in 2010.

He has everything going for him...pace, smarts, clean skills.

Add strength and endurance and he will be a serious player.

And gees i love Grimes.

Bring on 2010!!!

PS Please be patient with Jack Watts, he has a lot of filling out to do. He will be the best of them all.

i reckon these boys will stand up next year Grimes, Morton, Jurrah, Petterd, and my smoky is Strauss.

I'm also a big fan of maric, but i reckon we will see patches of what he can offer, i reckon his break out year will be in 2011.

I'm thinking that maybe this will be the year of Matthew Bate......for some reason people rate him kinda low....he will be an awesome foil for Watts and may be the reason Miller was only contracted for 1 year.

Sylvia needs to have a big year, we have so many players that will improve but one that will stand out is Nathan Jones, he gets his hands on the footy at stoppages, a little more strength to stand in tackles and off load I can see him be a dominate clearance player.

Watts. May not dominate but will at least show why he was no.1

Sylvia will dominate next year. The blokes a freak. He's my tip for the major break out.

Jurrah is a wizard as we all know, so who knows what the hell he's capable of.

We'll see improvement from Watts, but the best is still a few years down the track.

Oh, how the future is bright

I think Morton will step up and be top-3 for us. I really hope he does. I quite frankly think he has been over-rated to this point in his career. He is going to be very good, and hopefully that is what he will be next year.

Davey to be in the All-Australian 40-man squad.

Sylvia to rip a handful of games open and get 30+ touches 4-5 times.

Jurrah to kick 50 goals.

Strauss, Watts, Scully and Trengove to get Rising-Star nominations. (Sorry, I know nothing about Blease or picks 11 and 18 at the moment.)

Matthew Bate to kick 40 goals and become one of our top-10 players.

Frawley to go close to All-Australian squad selection.

Grimes to get 8 Brownlow votes.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
