2009 Player Review - # 22 Brent Moloney

Brent Moloney – He had a really consistent year and stood up. 'Beamer' was actually omitted at one stage last year but came back and played some really good games before being injured. He was really determined over summer and didn't miss a session, which really showed in his game. He is physical, loves a contest and was our leading clearance player. The guys love playing with him too, because he brings some energy to the team. He is part of our leadership group and does a great job with our younger players – Sean Wellman on Melbournefc.com.au

I think people forget that in 2005 he came 4th in the Bluey in his first year at the club.

Fantastic to see him back in the R&B, should be better now that there is some more speed around him.

We all know what I am refering to...

As an aside, his handballing improved out of sight this year. Very important considering our gameplan.

Beamer's starting to get backinto the swing of things. He can still improve and I think he will ( given he gets a good and non interupted preseason )

ought to enjoy his new midfield company. Look forward to a blinder of an '010 from him :)

Would love for Beamer to be Captain. Would be a great story. Passionate Dees supporter as a kid grows into the Captain of the Melbourne Football club. Leading clearance player with about 90 clearances for the year, And got 21 games under his belt in 2009. The thing I love most about Beamer he uses it well by hand with, big, long handballs that can set up play, and his massive long right boot. His decision making improved almost every week. He`ll give you 100% every week, week in & week out, and wins his fair share of the footy. Love him, Absolutely love him. Should continue next year without any injury interruptions.

Consistent and always hard working. Disposal and decision-making seemed to improve as the year progressed. Great that he's been injury free. Back close to his best and seems to be thriving on increased leadership responsibility. A good year Beamer. Looking forward to further progress in 2010.

Moloney for mine had the most notable change in his game style this year and should be highly commended for the changes he has made. He moved from a "get ball kick ball" player to really improving his inside game and taking the better option in most cases. Can see him being an important mature body to protect any new mids who debut in 2010.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
