Agree, although the only reason i can imagine that an announcement wouldn't be made, is that Robbo truly believes he will play on next year, whether it's at the MFC or not. Hence, he probably won't have a press conference announcing his retirement, because he doesn't want to retire!

He really should though. Would be a shame if he didn't officailly announce it, and in the end, ends up flat on his bum like White and Yze did after being delisted, nominating for the draft and eventually missing out.

He's been a massive part of our club for a decade, he deserves to go out with his dignity intact.

I know he is contracted for next year, but by selecting PJ to start against Sandilands I think Bailey is suggesting that it's time to sink or swim.

The footy dept are going to be watching very closely PJ. I was rapt with your performance last season but we need to free up some spots on the list and your head is well and truly on the chopping block.

I'm surprised to see PJ in the starting 18, and i'm probably his biggest (only) fan.

the only explanation for picking PJ as 1st ruck is that they're not 100% sure about Jamar's fitness.

Hey Big C, I just noticed that Casey have a bye this week.

I was wondering why the Casey team hadn't come up yet. I still don't understand why they would risk injury prone players at this time of year when we should be looking at players like Buckley, Valenti, Spencer, McNamara and McKenzie.

McLean and Jamar have been injured for a while so I can't why they shouldn't have a run at Casey.

McNamara only had 1 game and Bail was playing in Casey's reserves and got a game.

Tmac had played a fair amount of the seaon before being injured and had good form, was close to a call up then and wasn't out for long....

Bail had been playing seniors and only played reserves that weekend on the Sunday because he was in QLD for his mothers funeral on the Saturday when the seniors played... Bail also only got a game for exposure and because we barely had anyone else to choose from...

Maybe people need to get their facts right and know what they're talking about before making such strong ascertions on a players list status

I know this is probably unlikely, but Robbo may have received some intelligence that another club in the premiership window (ie - Carlton or Dogs) may be interested in him for 1 year.

As far as Robbo is concerned, if he has in fact been told that another club will take him, he needs to give that a lot of thought.He will have an income for one year at most and a chance to play some more games and maybe some finals. Against that is the fact that as a short key forward with no pace and few defensive skills at an age of 32 he will be the first to be dropped if his form is not great. He will no longer be a one team player and may go out on a real low struggling in the VFL.

The same could be said for Plugger.

It takes an astute champion to be able to manage his won exit from the game with all his dignity in tact (Hird is one player who comes to mind on this). Sometimes injury opportunity and circumstance can derail the best laid plans in this area.

Must say that I respectfully disagree. I think when a player who is not wanted by their club goes to another, supporters are far more willing to accept that than leaving when wanted.

Robbo, if you honestly think you've got a bit left in the tank, look after number 1 and pursue your career with another club if the Dees are not interested in you going forward.

If for example, the Dogs pick you up but you only manage a couple of games, at least you can say you gave it a crack rather than die wandering.

Football supporters in general respect champions from other Clubs. I think it was sad when a recognised champion whose better days are long past does not recognise that and plays on as a poor parody of their former great selves. Hawkins and Plugger were two examples.

Hawkins - Hardly a barometer - Brownlow votes. I still cant work out how Leigh Matthews never won a B'low during times where he dominated the competition.

Brereton - Won 5 flags and was in the Hawks greatest ever team as their best CHF. Its not surprising. To be honest, I dont know of too many Pies supporters (I know a few unfortunately and most are right into the game) care two hoots about Sav Rocca who they rate as ordinary.

Interesting about Lethal. There was one year that he had a blinder and won every media/sporting award by a country mile and got no where near the B'low in a year where he was not reported. I thought he only became a thug in his later years.

You cannot begrudge a guy who at 30 wants to continue his career.

If he is offered another contract with a club, where he gets an extra year of salary, an extra year to play and another chance at finals footy, he should take it. It's his career, and his long term security and his risk to take. He should not in the least bit feel undeserving, or greedy when it is us pushing him out the door. Had he taken the Dogs offer 2 years ago, he'd still be playing next year and he would have played in many more finals. He remained loyal to us, but after we [censored] him off (which is the right thing to do btw) he is free to do as he pleases.

While I would hate to see Robbo wearing another jumper, I would be happy to see him succeed elsewhere. If he doesn't, well at least he can say he tried.

He is not as horribly past it as some seem to think, and in a better side, would be a decent contributor.

Each to their own really isnt it. If a player stil has yards in him..they bully for him ..all power..and good luck. Sadly not al recognise the sign at teh enf of an illustrious walk etc. Personally have no problem with anyone going anywhere, its their life and career. Footy is relativley a short time in the sun so youd be a mug not to try and wring it for all its worth.
