Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

While I would hate to see Robbo wearing another jumper, I would be happy to see him succeed elsewhere. If he doesn't, well at least he can say he tried.

He is not as horribly past it as some seem to think, and in a better side, would be a decent contributor.

It would be interesting to see how he would go in a side like Geelong. Unlike Hawkins and Mooney, he's not afraid of having a shot...

On basically a free transfer, he probably should be considered but I don't think he would be.

I'm sure Matthew Scarlett might be whispering in Bomber's ear. :)

If the sides at the top are considering him, he might be traded, unless they were confident he'd get through to late in the PSD.

My understanding is Robbo is efectively out of contract come seasons end.The club cant really have its cake and eat it by not extending an offer and then wanting recompence for any sort of trade. Robbo will walk into the PSD if he wishes to elongate his career. I cant see how or why we would get anything... thats life ;)

You cannot begrudge a guy who at 30 wants to continue his career.

You can only query his better judgement.

Had he taken the Dogs offer 2 years ago, he'd still be playing next year ....

But where?? VFL?

He is not as horribly past it as some seem to think, and in a better side, would be a decent contributor.

Sorry he is. His issues are not who is around him so much as the player himself.

He's be playing because he'd be contracted, where he would be playing is another matter. The issue here is that at 30, he wants to look after his long term future and you cannot begrudge him that.

You realise that your underhanded, subtle digs at him is no better than the rubbish we had to delete about Wheatley. Just because you are not coming right out and telling us he's rubbish, doesn't mean that the disrespect you are showing him by questioning his talent and judgment is any better.

Pull your head in. If he wants to keep playing, that should not concern you in the slightest. Wish him well and bloody move on. FFS!

P.S.- he has been a great servant of this footy club and gave us many many years of enjoyment. You may no longer be a fan, but how about you afford those who are some time to reflect on his great career instead of cutting it down to shreds. All 3 deserve to be remembered fondly and I find it very sad that grown ups who should know better, are using this opportunity to stick the boot in.

I could see Robbo maybe being useful for a team like Geelong for 1 more year, as they could really do with a tallish player that can convert some opportunities.

I think he was never really able to get full fitness after the achilles injury last year, which may be partly responsible for his poor workrate in games this season.

With a full pre-season, I could see Robbo kicking 40-50 for the Cats next year with all their class. He's kicked 20 this year in 10 in a poor season with mostly awful distribution into the forward line.

If a club in a premiership window is interested in picking him up in the PSD then good luck to him. A fit and committed Robbo is still capable of kicking 50 goals next season in a good side...

In: McLean, Rivers, Jurrah, Robertson

Out: Bruce (Wrist), Bail (Quad), Newton (Achilles), Spencer

The killer ruck duo of PJ and Martin strikes again! :D

Very harsh on young Spencer, but good to see Robbo back for a final farewell tour. With him and Jurrah in the forwardline we might even kick some goals! :o:lol:

Each to their own really isnt it. If a player stil has yards in him..they bully for him ..all power..and good luck. Sadly not al recognise the sign at teh enf of an illustrious walk etc. Personally have no problem with anyone going anywhere, its their life and career. Footy is relativley a short time in the sun so youd be a mug not to try and wring it for all its worth.

Indeed.

Why run a guy down for trying to get another year or years of AFL?

If you can't get a game at Melbourne now I think you are in big trouble. Buckley you are in big trouble.

McLean and Jamar have been injured for a while so I can't why they shouldn't have a run at Casey.

Hopeful interchange : McNamara, McKenzie, Valenti, Spencer. P.J is still getting a game. What does he have to do to get dropped?

Well If they played PJ in the right position (ruck whole day) instead of him playing full forward and at full back then he would play some good games like he did last year. PJ is a great moblic ruckman and is better then Jamar around the ground but Jamar is a bit better at the ruck contest. I would like to see PJ and Jamar both in the team being number 1 and 2 ruckman they compliment each other.

Disappointing that PJ gets a game over Spencer. Jamar mustn't be fit enough atm. Nice for Robbo to get a send-off.
agreed,PJ had his chance hes simply not up to it, id play spencer before him.

On the contrary I have continually wished him well and recognised his career achievements.

I have never questioned his desire to keep playing. Just that he is no longer good enough and he cant see that. He is not the first player and I have evidence others.

Spare us the childish melodrama. You're once more off the mark, trivial and completely two faced in your judgements. Shouldn't expect much more than that on past form. Good grief.

Your acidic condemnation of players like PJ makes your overblown defence of your protected species laughable and ridiculous. But you would be the last to see that as usual.

I think PJ is our best option for Freo. Tap work has absolutely no relevance for any player on our list when opposed to Sandilands.

Are you kidding? You didn't watch last year's game at the g. You have to smash into Sandilands so he doesn't tap it to anyone he likes, Jamar does this well. We may as well have Valenti in th ruck instead of having PJ prancing around playing like a pounce.

Sandilands is going to win the taps regardless of whether we put Valenti or Jamar agianst him. Its up to the midfielders to make sure it doesn't go to advantage.

PJ picks up more possessions around the ground than Jamar which is why i think he can be more dangerous. Sure some of his possessions are more dangerous to us than them but what can i say i still like PJ and hope he can turn it around.

Bstars is right about playing Sandilands. Make him hurt for every tap which makes him slower and less agile as the game wears on. PJ trails Jamar by a mile ATM.

Nobody is a bigger hypocrite or player condemner than you, and I doubt you would have a clue about whether Robbo can or can't go on. You may have wished Robbo well, but you've then decided to undermine your well wishes with telling us all that he is practically delusional for thinking he can go on, when in fact you'd have no clue.

Branding me melodramatic does nothing to suggest that your opinion is anymore worthy.

But hey, let's not waste our time here. You will obviously continue with your underhanded, passive aggressive, narcissistic remarks towards both players and posters since you are a protected specie on this site, and I will have to continue to ignore you.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
