Link broken. This looks like it?

At the very end:

"With the Demons this week listing 20 of their 46 listed players as either injured or under a cloud -- six more than any other side -- Bailey said the experimentation would continue against North Melbourne on Sunday, with Rohan Bail, 21, taken with the 64th selection in last year's draft, likely to play his first game. Thanks Trident - I dunno how I stuffed that link up. Excited to see Bail's run on Sunday - awful news about his mother.

That's good to see Bail getting a taste of AFL level. He will learn a great deal if he gets a start. What will that be, 39 players used this season?

This is a surprise, I must say. Peter German said they might have brought him up a week too early to the Casey seniors and now all of a sudden he's going to get an AFL starting berth? Well, I suppose that is clever list management. Good luck to him.

Rohan has been the biggest disappointment of the new draftees at the club in 2009 IMO. At 22 it was expected that he would play some senior games this year and have an immediate impact. However he's struggled with the pace and strength of VFL footy, which no doubt was already a huge step up from AFLQ standard, and his disposal and decision-making generally has not been up to scratch. I have grave fears/doubts about his game, as he doesn't look to be exceptionally smart, strong, clean or skillful, and although he has good pace, his lack of smarts and poor kicking could be terminal. In other words, he just doesn't have enough stand-out qualities at VFL level for me to believe he'll forge a successful AFL career.

Very sad news about his mother though. Losing your mother at such a young age has got to be one of the toughest things in the world. I hope he and his family are coping well, and my thoughts go out to them. I really do wish him all the best, and hope he proves me wrong and turns out to be a decent player.

Good to hear that another player is getting a taste of senior footy prior to the pre-season. I am not sure what to expect from Bail but I always look forward to seeing new players and discovering their own personal attributes as footy players.

I have to say, these are my thoughts too. He was drafted with the intention of getting some game time this year, but from what I've seen of him in the VFL he's struggled there.

Having said that, you shouldn't expect too much from pick 64.

I'm just hoping Tommy McNamara gets a game too. I really think he could be a good player for us, and I certainly would be upset if he was to be delisted without getting an opportunity.

I thought that was what German said about McNamara, not Bail. Have to say I'm suprised to hear Bail may be playing though. Pretty sure he played with Casey 2nds last weekend.

Doesn't turn 22 till June next year.

Always a speculative pick, I believe recruited because of athletic prowess.

Those types, late in the draft, are always low risk/high reward.

So disappointment is a strong word, for a project like Bail.

And maybe a little harsh at this point in time.....

If he gets a game, and I hope he does, then lets just wish him luck and given him our support.

Because the 2s played on a Sunday.

On Saturday he was in QLD cos his mum passed away.

Nothing to do with form.

I didn't know that, my condolences to the Rohan and his family.......

The circumstances won't prevent the skeptics from frowning and accusing the club of tanking by selecting him.

Let them, and then DB or CC will explain why he didn't play for Casey last week and that'll put them back in their box.

What does Danny Hughes have to do to get a game...

Pay for his own promotion onto the senior list?

It's a waste of money forking out however many thousands of dollars it is to promote someone off the rookie list for the sake of 3 or 4 games.

Can a rookie ask to not have a pay increase to play senior footy?

No, but I believe this year the AFL is trialling FA by allowing Rookie Listed players to go anywhere they want provided they are given a place on the primary list of a club.

That doesn't really help you decide anything, I just thought it was an interesting aside...

Not interesting?

Hell, I haven't even heard it had been confirmed yet...

In that case, don't worry about it.

Can't help you 45HG16.

Disappointment might've been a bit harsh, but i struggle to find another word to describe his performances at this stage of his career. He makes Clint Bartram look like a smart footballer with great skills! Let's just hope he does a Colin Garland and turns it all around very quickly.

I concur the thoughts of many here regarding Danny Hughes. I'm a big wrap for the guy, and would be disappointed if he didn't get a game before the season is out. It's a shame he didn't get elevated to the list before McKenzie, as Jordie was always going to get another season on the list next year. Sadly for Danny, he may have missed the boat.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
