This kid has some aggro.

On a couple pf occasions vs Geelong and in previous weeks he had no qualms about smashing opposition players as they disposed of the ball, and put a few of them flat on their backs.

The question I now pose is this - what CAN'T he do on the footy field?

The total package if I have ever seen it.

Maybe he can`t kick with his left foot?? Only thing I can think of at this stage, but I have no doubt he will prove me wrong!

He moves an plays like Daryl White, 3 time premiership player. Jurrah may well be also!

He and Grimer are the main reasons I go to the footy every week!

Obviously Liam is incredibly athletic, and I thought this would be the aspect of his game that would impress me most of all. As exciting as he is to watch in terms of his athleticism that is not what I find most impressive about him.

What has impressed me most of all is his football brain. The guy has great football smarts.

When he came on the scene I was expecting that his athleticism coupled with his great self-belief, he would be the type of player who wants to take on the game at each opportunity and try and make the play all on his own. I didn't see this expactation as a negative either. A player like that can be a great addition to a team.

But what he has shown instead is a great ability to know when to go, where to go, when to take the game on himself and when to look for the option and create for teammates and he has the skills to do it. Some of his passes on Saturday were sublime.

He seems to have a great instinct for the game and has the ability to make good decisions with the ball.

With a couple of pre-seasons in his tank and a bit of body strength development, he could be absolutely anything. About as talented a natural footballer I have seen. It's going to be exciting to see what he becomes.

I'm interested to know whether we would've had pick one in the PSD if Chris Johnson didn't decide to leave the club.

If this is the case, we effectively traded Johnson for Jurrah.

I'm not entirely sure, but from what I understand, if Johnson had decided to stay, we wouldn't have had the spot for Liam on our list.

Someone will probably know the details better than I do.

All I will say is, thankyou Chris Johnson. Best thing you ever did for the club.

Already one of the most gifted players that I have seen in a Melbourne Jumper. A perfect mix of athlete and footballer. Sounds like an overstatement but I don't think it is.

Quick, great hands, lovely uncomplicated kick, unselfish, confident and a very good decision maker. It is very rare for a forward to come in and show these qualities off the bat.

His leap is an interesting one, he hangs in the air. It is as horizontal as it is vertical. He is virtually unstoppable when in front or given room to jump at the footy. He could be stopped if given no room to work or double teamed but then all great forwards struggle with that one.

23 - for his likeness to his royal airness - michael jordan?

13 - the most exciting MFC player since the great allen jakovich?

or keep his own number?

wait until the cues REALLY put in the rack, and Bails lets him go for a trot on the wing or in the middle, he will cause some problems!

Seeing as Buddy already wears 23 for Hawthorn, I'd like a point of difference.

It's a shame Bell has another year on his contract because 21 in the tradition of Dominique "The Human Highlight Reel" Wilkins, would've been nice.

For a bloke that has only played a handful of games at the top level he has this magnificent aura that just says that he is here to play and he doesn't care who is playing on him because he knows that he will beat them. His kick to Robbo on the weekend was sublime - I know the mark was pants wetting but to cap it off with a millimeter perfect weighted kick - that is real champion stuff. Happy happy joy joy. I can only see upside to the lad, and a hell of a lot of it at that. I expect that many a young Demon fan will be wearing his number for years to come. :wub:

He can kick 60 metres with his left foot. Believe me, he loves it hard and tough - let me tell you he ain't called a Warlpiri Warrior for nothing.

If it ever becomes available, he'd love to wear number 15. it was his Dad's number made famous in Central Australia, and was his own number at Yuendumu.

Not exactly true. If CJ was still on the list, the club would've had to decide whether to draft Rohan Bail at pick 64, or pass on that selection have pick 1 in the PSD. Given the club did it the year previously, I'd imagine we would've passed on this selection, and still gotten Jurrah in the PSD.

The upshot of this, we may have drafted Rohan Bail at pick 1 in the rookie draft, and would've missed out on Jordie McKenzie... So instead of CJ we essentially have Bail or McKenzie

Well he already has a higher goals-per-game average than Bate, Newton and Robbo, so he's doing alright ;):lol:

But he might want to bump up his goal average from 2 to say 4, because somehow I can't see him playing 500 games...

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
