Robbo

Recommended Posts

Oh dear. He was embarrassingly deplorable in 2008 and was dropped. He was finished in 2007. And you dont see it?

Early in 2008, I thought White was still playing good footy. Obviously not as good as previous years.

A new contract for Robbo?

LOL

He will be a depth player at best in 2010 if he is around.

The forward line will belong to Watts, Jurrah, Martin, Sylvia, Bate etc etc

Even Garland may find himself down there upon his return.

Translation - Robbo is finished.

.... and for what to keep a performing clown on the ground.

Rhino, I take issue with that description of Robertson, particularly from someone who has followed the MFC as long as your username suggests you have. You're not a 14 year old kid. No matter what you or anyone else thinks of Robertson, his form or his future, his contribution to the MFC entitles him to more respect than you show him with that description.

Just a couple of things you might have missed. Over 200 games. Over 400 goals. A B&F.

I hope you ignored the request to wear your Melbourne jumper last Saturday because you would [censored] disgrace it.

If Robbo gets a new contract - it will be the recording one, with a view to selling a few hundred CD's at Crazy Clints.

Too many player blurter kissers think this show pony can actualy play - I pity you.

Robbo thanks, now go away. We should have sold you to whitten oval whilst you were worth more than a T bone steak.

Disgraceful post.

Yep, Robbo's not what he once was, and his time at the club is in its final stages.

But he has been a good performer for the club over the years, hardly deserves to be told 'Thanks, now go away'

Its people like Robbo who made me support the club.

He's suspended. He's also entitled to an opinion.

Back to the thread.

I wonder with Hall gone. O'Loughlin gone. O'Keefe wanting out. Would Robbo be on Swans shopping list?

swans have a track record of awesomely paying over the odds! trade for barry hall? lol

It's not as silly as it might seem to some. Sydney seem to be in a diabolical position. Sydney would definitely be on the lookout for forwards, preferably forwards with experience. They could even be looking at Newton who's not getting a game.

They'd definitely have plenty of room under salary cap to entice someone. Hell, even Fevola! Come to think of it - he would be ideal replacement for Sydney. Maybe a Fevola - Robbo combo!

Medium size forwards that are able to average around 50 goals a year for several seasons are as scarce as hens teeth. Show more respect!

It depends on how deep we go into the shallow 2009 draft. It isn't opinion, it's fact backed up by Prendergast, the eligibility changes have meant that BP is picking from kids born in an 8 month block and not the full year.

So if we go Picks 1, 2, 19, 35, 51 and PSD1, that is 6 places.

And 6 deletions. Wheatley, Whelan, Junior, Robertson, Bell, and Dunn would be my 'most vulnerable' at this stage. But I really don't think, unless we are trading, that getting rid of 8 or 9 this year is good for the health of the list.

Don't delete for the sake of deleting.

Good post, no point is delisting 8+ players unless you're confident you can replace them with quality. It's a shallow draft so any late picks are a risk.

Possible 2010 Forwards

HF - Bate Garland Davey

F - Woneamirri Watts Jurrah

Other key players that will spend time there

Sylvia

Martin

Morton

Notice somethng about all these guys. They are young.

Robbo has no future after this season.

And if you think the backline cant afford to lose Garland and Martin, well think again

B - Bennell Frawley Warnock

HB - Grimes Rivers Green

other players that will spend time there

Cheney

Martin

Garland

Morton

I am teling you things are coming together nicely. Just wait til the midfield gets going.

I think they'd be interested in hard working types like Miller, & Fevola's talent, but they don't like dik heads.

Correct Y_M. The backline has taken shape or is taking shape with many applying for positions and both Martin and Garland are options for up forward. Need more games into the youth and quality mids.

Yup.

I didnt mention Tom McNamara either, I think he has a future and could also play either end.

Bailey has found some versatile kids.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
